Atletico’s president angrily answered critics that claim Simeone’s crew plays using excessive force against their rivals.

Following claims from some critics that establish Atletico Madrid's playing style is too violent, the club's president Enrique Cerezo replied while supporting Diego Simeone's players:

"There are some members of the press that speak without thinking. They deem our team to be too violent. Yo have to ignore them, because it's pretty clear they do it to pile pressure on the referees. They are just plain fools, hypocrites and full of sh...," Atletico's president stated.

Accusations surfaced since this season Atletico's players have been sanctioned with an elevated number of yellow cards. Besides the situation on the pitch, Diego Simeone's eight game suspension did not help ease the tension.

"This is a game played by men, not by little women. I have to ask those media members who judge our playing style who has been suspended for nine games like we have endured. They just talk without knowing how to even kick a ball," Cerezo added.

On the eve of another derby against Real Madrid, Cerezo had thankful words for Carlo Ancelotti after the Italian coach denied violent attitudes by Atletico's players.

"He is absolutely right, I want to thank him because he is a true gentleman and an honest sportsman," Atletico's president claimed.
