Manchester United might feel a bit relieved they didn't capture Arturo Vidal after this latest development.

Certainly, this is not how Arturo Vidal would have wanted to start off the season.

At the end of Juventus's last campaign, the 27-year-old suffered a knee injury that put his participation in the World Cup with Chile in doubt. However, after a successful operation and rehab period, he was able to recover in time to feature in Brazil.

Manchester United were keen on him all summer, with the Red Devils reportedly offering at one point as much as £40 million to bring him to Old Trafford, but there were always the rumors that his suspect knee was an issue for Dutch coach Louis Van Gaal.

Unfortunately, it appears that the Bianconeri midfielder has re-injured himself--a very worrying thing for the Turin giant's supporters with Andrea Pirlo also out with his own injury woes.

However, on the flip side, the Red Devils might be a bit relieved that they didn't successfully sign him this summer and may also feel that they dodged a bullet, big time. With how they have started the season, had they spent that hefty sum only for Vidal to unfortunately be ruled out of commission, the pressure certainly would have been even more intense on Van Gaal.

As for Juventus,  they will have their own concerns, with some reports indicating that the combative midfielder could miss a large amount of the 2014-2015 Serie A campaign.
