The two South American sides will meet at the Sun Life Stadium on Thursday, the 4th of September in a friendly match.

The two teams met in the Quarter-Final of the World Cup last time out, a match the hosts won by a 2-1 score line. What followed it was one of the worst moments in the history of Brazilian football as eventual champions Germany ran rampant condemning the hosts to a 7-1 defeat.

Following their embarrassing exit former manager Luiz Felipe Scolari was shown the way out with 1994 World Cup winner Dunga announced as his replacement. This will be Dunga’s second stint as the manager of the Seleção and he will be hoping to do much better than his first spell when his only notable achievements were guiding the Brazilian national team to a FIFA Confederations Cup title and a Copa América trophy in 2009 and 2007 respectively.

The incoming manager had a few words to say about Barcelona star Neymar who according to him is yet to achieve ‘star’ status.

"He's the best player in Brazil, but no star. To have star status, you have to have world champion credentials on your back," Dunga said.

"But we are going to work to make sure that, when he's with the Selecao, Neymar performs above the level that defines a star."

The 50 year old also had good words to say about his predecessor, Luiz Felipe Scolari who he believed received unjust criticism for Brazil’s heavy defeat in the World Cup semi-final.

"It is easy to say [critical things], to point out the faults in idols," he said. "[Scolari] is a winner, competent and principled. Brazil conceded the first goal and Germany didn't allow them to breathe."

Colombia on the other hand enjoyed a memorable World Cup campaign and will be brimming with confidence ahead of the match. The competition’s top scorer James Rodriguez stole the limelight with his impeccable performances. This time around the Real Madrid star will play alongside his former Monaco teammate Radamel Falcao who missed the World Cup due to injury but is set to start during Thursday’s fixture.

The 28 year old finalized his loan move to Manchester United on deadline day and the Colombian will be eager to make an impression against what is a very strong Brazilian side.
