After watching the Red Devils fall to a disappointing 2-1 loss at home to Swansea in the English Premier League's opening game, the Man United board are preparing a stunning package to land Argentine ace Angel Di Maria

English Premier League side Manchester United have long been linked with a move for Real Madrid's Argentine ace Angel Di Maria.

The 26-year-old Los Blancos star had a stellar year at Santiago Bernabeu last season, playing a pivotal role in Les Merengues' 4-1 Champions League triumph over city rivals Atletico Madrid, winning the Man of the Match award for the final in Lisbon.

But with the arrivals of World Cup Golden Boot winner James Rodriguez, and German midfield maestro Toni Kroos, the former Benfica attacker has been put up for sale by Real Madrid.

Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain are also keen on adding Angel Di Maria to their ranks, but after signing Brazilian center-back David Luiz on a £50m, Les Parisiens must be wary of Financial Fair Play lurking behind them.

The Red Devils thus are now favorites to land the 26-year-old. The Manchester side's Dutch manager Louis Van Gaal has informed chief executive Ed Woodward to bring in further additions, with Di Maria top priority, especially after the 20-time English Premier League winners' 2-1 loss to Swansea City, their first opening day home defeat in the club's history

Manchester United are now believed to be preparing a £50m move for the Albiceleste winger, with a five-year, £200,000-a-week contract on the table, a deal that would cost the team a total of £100m to secure Di Maria's Theatre of Dreams switch.
