The Californian club is looking to strengthen its offensive line in the midst of a poor season.

With the hopes of improving their performance for the rest of the MLS season, Chivas USA sign offensive player Felix Borja on loan from Ecuadorian side Liga Deportiva Universitaria de Quito. The forward has international experience as he has been capped 23 times for Ecuador’s National Team, including the 2006 World Cup in Germany. Borja has also played in the Mexican league for Puebla and Pachuca, where he scored 23 goals during his three-year spell.

The Red-and-White club currently holds the last place of the Western Conference with six wins out of 22 games played and with only 23 points obtained. Chivas USA might be using Borja as a partner for star goal-scorer Erick ‘Cubo’ Torres. The 31-year-old could fit well in the two-striker formation that Chivas USA regularly plays. Borja will join Ecuadorians Minda and Bolaños in his new club.

Regarding Borja’s addition to the roster, Chivas USA coach, Wilmer Cabrera, told:

"We are extremely pleased to add such a gifted, international striker. Felix's great experience in some of the other top leagues worldwide will help us not only on the field where we expect him to score and create goals, but also in the locker room where he can help mentor our younger players."

Chivas USA will play their next match against Vancouver Whitecaps at the StubHub center on Saturday.
