The French star has become the latest high profile player to retire from international football this summer.

Following this year's World Cup, a slew of stars have opted to say adieu to the world of international football, largely to focus more on club commitments.

So far, the summer has seen players like Germany's Miroslav Klose and Philipp Lahm, Ivory Coast star Didier Drogba, England's Steven Gerrard, Spain's Xavi, Xabi Alonso, and David Villa among others.

And now Franck Ribery has opted to join this growing list, with the 31-year-old opting to hang up his boots for Les Bleus after missing out on featuring in Brazil due to injury.

"I want to dedicate myself more to my family and concentrate on the tasks at Bayern, and also leave a place in the national team for the many great [up and coming] young players," the 2013 Champions League winner stated.

Ribery, who finished third behind Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi for this year's Ballon d'Or, has amassed over 80 caps for his national side since making his debut eight years ago in 2006.
