The Spanish sides will meet in a UEFA Super Cup tie on Tuesday, the 12th of August at the Millennium Stadium.

La Liga produced champions in both the European competitions last season as Real Madrid and Sevilla won the Champions League and the Europa League respectively. Los Blancos triumphed in all Spanish final after they defeated Atletico Madrid by a 4-1 score line after Sergio Ramos scored the equalizer in the dying moments.

Real Madrid emerged as the better side in extra time after scoring thrice after 90 minutes to land their 10th Champions League title. Carlo Ancelotti who guided his side to La Decima believes that winning the European crown last time out has given his side a lot of confidence which will propel them in doing something which has never been done, which is to retain the Champions League title.

"No team has defended the title in history," Ancelotti said.

"We know it will be very difficult."

"Our starting point resides in the fact that the team is more confident in itself. It is more confident now thanks to recent success."

"I think that gives us something extra for this season's Champions League."

The Italian tactician also claimed that Sevilla will be a difficult team to play against despite the fact that the Europa League winners have lost some important players to other clubs most notably Ivan Rakitic who made a switch to Barcelona over the summer.

"The team had a good season."

"It won the Europa League with a group of players who worked well as a team and they deserved to win the title.

"Sevilla has changed a bit this year."

"In some ways it is an unknown side at the moment because they have lost some important players and others have arrived. We'll see what happens."

Summer signings Toni Kroos and James Rodríguez are set to make their competitive debuts for the European champions. The duo enjoyed a successful World Cup campaign and both the youngsters will be hoping to create an impression as they aim to land a starting berth for the match against Sevilla.

Diego Lopez on the other hand who was Real Madrid’s first choice keeper during league outings has sealed a move to Italian side AC Milan which means either of Casillas or new signings Keylor Navas will start between the posts.

Gareth Bale is set for an emotional return to his homeland, Wales and he will be looking to make the difference. The former Tottenham man enjoyed a prolific debut season with Madrid and he will be hoping to begin where he left off from last season.
