According to English reports, the Red Devils are preparing to sell the tall Belgian for a cut-price deal as a way to get him off their wage books.

Last season was by far the most disappointing one that many Manchester United fans had seen in quite some time.

For the first time in seemingly ages, the Red Devils will not feature in the Champions League--let alone the Europa League--thanks to a dismal showing under former manager David Moyes.

With the arrival of Dutch tactician Louis Van Gaal, the Premier League titans have begun an effective shake-up of the squad, with veterans such as Patrice Evra, Rio Ferdinand, and Nemanja Vidic all moving on to ply their trades elsewhere.

One player that bore the brunt of a lot of fan abuse was Belgian international Marouane Fellaini, who was purchsed for a whopping £27.5 million at the insistence of former manager Moyes.

Dismal: Fellaini arrived at Old Trafford in a big money move and failed to score a single goal in a highly disappointing debut season for the former Everton man

However, the tall midfielder failed to ignite during his debut season at Old Trafford and now looks set to be finally heading for the door as Van Gaal seeks to offload him as quickly as possible.

According to the Mirror, his next destination looks like it's going to be Italy, where his former colleagues Evra and Vidic both play for Juventus and Inter respectively.

This year's Coppa Italia winners Napoli are the side that have been linked with him, with the Partenopei's coach Rafa Benitez believing that a change of scenery might do the 26-year-old a whole lot of good.

However, the Southern Italian side, who finished third in last season's Serie A campaign are reportedly looking for a loan deal as finances appear to be an issue for them.

The same report claims that the Belgian is not the only one Van Gaal wishes to ship out--others include Nani and Shinji Kagawa.
