Liverpool narrowly missed out on the 2013/14 English Premier League title and finished second. However, they could console themselves with the competition's Fair Play award.

Despite having the Premier League title, Liverpool manage to win the Fair Play League, beating last year’s winner, Arsenal, who ended up in second place, followed by Everton and Manchester City.

The competition takes into consideration five main factors like red and yellow cards, positive play, respect towards opponents, respect towards the referee and behavior of the team officials. The Reds will be awarded the first price, consisting of a monetary award of 30000 pounds, which the team can choose to donate to a charity program of their choice.

The first 10 spots in this year's Fair Play league

Brendan Rodgers was pleased with the result and stated:

We are delighted to top the Fair Play League at the end of one of our most successful seasons in recent history.”

Liverpool's manager led the team to one of their best seasons, on and off the pitch

Liverpool’s manager then added:

“Our fans, players and staff make up what we like to call the world's greatest football family and as part of that we look to uphold the club's values which include unity, dignity and commitment, which have been shown throughout the season.”

The FA Cup winners could not retain the first place in the Fair Play league

One major improvement at Anfield was surely Luis Suarez’s behavior on the pitch. The Uruguayan got 6 yellow cards this season and no red, while just last season, the forward finished with 10 bookings.

Suarez's attempt to improve his reputation is starting to be noticed
