Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud, who scored twice for France in a friendly match against Norway this week, has talked about why the Gunners failed to win the EPL.

In a lengthy interview with French magazine Midi-Libre, Olivier Giroud talked about Arsenal’s season and his personal future at the Emirates. The striker admitted that his team lacked maturity against the big teams and cracked under the pressure of being first. The striker stated:

We were on top for a good half of the season and then we cracked, I believe we lacked maturity and that we had a lot of injuries at an important time.”

Giroud had two solid seasons with Arsenal but has not fully exploded, yet

In fact, after 128 days leading the English premier League table, Arsenal lost 5-1 to Liverpool in February and could never recover from the hammering. The Gunners could never regain the first spot and finished their campaign in fourth place.

The Gunners' loss at Anfield crushed their ability to stay in the title-race

The French player then went on to talk about his personal performance and his future with Arsenal. With 16 league goals, the young forward can definitely be satisfied with what he achieved since he arrived in England. Giroud revealed:

I feel at ease in the league. I've had a not bad first season and a second that was mainly good. I hope to do even better.”

Arsenal's striker will be responsible for France's scoring ability in Brazil

Moreover, the French talent is confident in his abilities and wishes to stay longer at the Emirates. In fact, the striker announced:

“I still have two years on my contract but we are in negotiations to extend it.”

The French player is unstoppable when he is in form
