Paul Labile Pogba was born March 15, 1993, in Lagny-sur-Marne, France. Despite being 21 years old, the young player already earned a starting spot in Juventus’ highly competitive midfield. Due to his long legs, the youngster was given the nickname “Paul the Octopus” (“Polpo Paul”).

Pogba had a successful season with Juventus, where he helped win the Scudetto and break the European 100-points record, finishing the Serie A 2013/14 campaign with 102 points. The young talent made his debut with the French senior national team on March 22, 2013, in a World Cup qualifier against Georgia. His performance with France was extremely positive, especially considering the young age and the personality with which the midfielder played such significant games. The “octopus” scored his first international goal against Belarus in September of 2013, again during a World Cup qualifier.

The strong midfielder started his youth-career back in 1999 with Roissy-en-Brie, where he played for 7 years. Pogba kept impressing with his strength and finesse, until in 2009 Manchester United’s youth-club decided to give him a chance. After only one year, the French player made his debut in the Premier League with the Red Devils’ first team against Stoke City on January 31, 2012. Despite Pogba’s extraordinary form and goals with the youth-club, Fergusson kept relying heavily on Carrick, allowing the French boy only 3 appearances coming off the bench. Fergie’s failure to give the young talent playing time resulted inevitably in the Frenchman leaving United to join Serie A giants, Juventus. As most people expected, the “octopus” did not disappoint and quickly became one of the most valuable and promising midfielders in the world, now on the wish-list of most European clubs.

If Pogba can keep performing as he did with Juve, he will certainly become one of France's legendary midfielders

With la Vecchia Signora, Paul Pogba truly exploded and demonstrated that, if given the chance, he can perform at the highest levels. His strength, coupled with incredible control, skills, and the most outrageous long-shot, make him a very unique midfielder, who can play offensively as well as closer to the centre-backs. In the two campaigns with Juventus, the young star scored an impressive 14 goals in 86 appearances. His ability to push up from the defensive position he usually plays in, will be an added weapon for France in the upcoming World Cup.
