Immediately after finding out about Jurgen Klinsmann’s decision not to bring him to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, Landon Donovan gave voice to his frustration on Facebook.
The American star wrote a post to his fans in which he expressed his disappointment for the German’s decision but also expressed gratitude to his fans and further revealed that he will still be cheering on his teammates throughout the competition.

Many American supporters were shocked and unhappy with Klinsmann’s decision. USA supporters flooded social medias with messages and appeals to the German coach.
I'm not surprised Landon Donovan isn't going to the World Cup. I'm shocked Jürgen Klinsmann had the balls to cut him.

Donovan playing with the USMNT
However, the decision should not be as shocking as most fans make it out to be. Donovan has not been consistent enough this season and has shown some mental difficulties when he took a break in October 2012.

For a crucial position, like striker or winger, Klinsmann will need not only the best players, but also the most in-form players. As the German clearly stated, the LA Galaxy forward was not in the best shape and thus, he had to make a very difficult decision, but possibly the right one.
