Andrea Pirlo, born May 19, 1979 in Flero, is an Italian football player currently playing for Juventus. The talented midfielder was given a number of nicknames due to his extraordinary vision, such as “the professor”, “the architect”, and “Mozart.”

Pirlo was instrumental for Juve winning their third title in a row. He is without a doubt one of the best passers in the world with eyes on the back of his head. Despite the lack of pace, “Mozart” is the catalyst for any team he plays for. The number 21 played 30 matches in Serie A this season, finding the net 4 times and creating another 7 goals. Considering that the Bianconeri never paid a transfer-fee for him, Pirlo represents one of their best investments.

From his humble beginnings with Brescia back in 1995, Pirlo’s talent did not take long to be discovered. After three years he was bought by Inter and after a brief spell on loan first with Reggina and then again with Brescia, the Italian midfielder was transferred to AC Milan, where he flourished. During his 10-year-long marriage with the Rossoneri, the Professor won, amongst other trophies, two Serie A titles, one Italy Cup, and two Champions Leagues. Pirlo also won a World Cup in 2006 in which he made a crucial no-look assist to Grosso for the decisive goal against Germany in the semifinal.

The Italian master-passer demonstrated to the whole world that there is nobody who can take free kicks better than him. In fact, the 35-year-old is the only one in Europe to have scored 7 free kick goals this season, wiping away the competition of Balotelli, Ibrahimovic and Ronaldo. He also scored another free kick against Mexico in 2013 during the Brazilian Confederations Cup and hopefully will repeat himself many times in the upcoming World Cup.
