We analyse the biggest talking points from Matchday 12, including the Blues march to the top and Yaya Toure's excellent return.

How “unlucky” are Man United?

Just how unlucky are Man United? After the Red Devils drew 1-1 against Arsenal in a game where the hosts were dominant, Jose Mourinho declared his team as the league’s unluckiest side.

He said after the final whistle: "We all know inside, internally, that in this moment that we are the unlucky team in the Premier League. We know that.”

They’ve now drawn three consecutive English Premier League home games for the first time in 25 years. To make things worse, Mourinho’s boys were leading in two of those games – vs. Stoke and Arsenal – only to concede an equalizer late in the second half.

And in both of the aforementioned 1-1 draws, the 20-time league champions were superior. Against the Potters, Man United had 24 shots and 67.2% possession compared to Stokes 7 and 32.8%, respectively.

Against Arsenal, it took the Red Devils five shots on target to score; the Gunners found the back of the net with their only accurate attempt of the game. Had Man United won all three of those winnable games, they would be level on points with leaders Chelsea (28 points).

Arsenal’s November woes continue

November is Arsenal’s worst month in history; it’s no hidden secret. Wenger promised to change that this year, but so far history is repeating itself.

The Gunners have only one victory this month, and that was the 3-2 comeback win against Ludogorets in the Champions League. In England, they’ve played out two disappointing 1-1 draws – against Spurs and United – when many had them as favorites to win.

Of course, that was not the only bad record of Wenger’s to persist. The Frenchman is yet to beat Mourinho in the English top-flight and his 10-year wait for an Old Trafford win in the league will eventually turn 11.

Chelsea are now favorites for the title

When the season began, Man City were favorites to win the league. A string of bad results then saw the emergence of “could this be Arsenal’s year” followed shortly by Liverpool’s claim. Now, though, none can deny Chelsea are in the driving seat.

Who would have thought the team that lost 2-1 at home to Liverpool only to be dismantled 3-0 by the Gunners would be seating at the top, but that is the reality. Six league games have passed since that Emirates Stadium defeat, and the Blues are yet to concede.

Not only have they kept five clean sheets, but they have scored 17 times along the way. Throw in the fact that Diego Costa leads the goalscoring chart with 10 strikes, and the future is bright at Stamford Bridge.

Yaya hands Guardiola food for thought

Many thought Yaya Toure’s time at Man City was over, yet Guardiola surprised many by handing him a rare start in the Crystal Palace clash. The Ivorian did not let that opportunity go to waste, as he broke the deadlock then scored the winner when the game was tied 1-1.

That one game saw him go level with Kevin de Bruyne in the goalscoring charts, and the former Barca ace is now only one short of Gunodgan and Nolito’s tally of three goals this season. Pep will definitely question his stance on Yaya.

Leicester: Last season’s champions; this term’s relegated side?

They won the hearts of many last season and clinched the most remarkable English Premier League title in season when many tipped them for a relegation battle. Oddly enough, a relegation battle is what they now face despite being the defending champions.

The 2-1 loss to Watford was their sixth of the season, leaving them only two points ahead of 18th-placed Hull City. It should be noted that the Foxes have already faced Liverpool, Chelsea, Man United, and Arsenal. Nonetheless, they may face the drop unless Ranieri’s boys improve drastically.
