1997 MLS Season Tribute

20 years ago today, D. C. United followed up its successful 1996 MLS Cup championship season with a run to the clubs first Supporters Shield scoring 55 points in league play and successfully defended their '96 MLS Cup on October 26, 1997. Jamie Moreno and Tony Sanneh each notched a goal to lead United to a 2-1 win over the Colorado Rapids, leading the team to their second consecutive MLS Cup. A dedicated home crowd of 57,421 packed RFK Stadium to cheer on the Black-and-Red amidst the pouring rain.
