The team's recent transfer business could see one of their midfield aces leaving the club by the end of the season that is about to begin.

Real Madrid have done some wise transfer decisions to boost their squad and to let go some of their most talented players in recent history, but the news regarding the departure of one of their top footballers has seen fans wonder if the end of their legendary midfield is approaching.

According to a report by Ser Deportivos, club representatives have stated that Luka Modric, Casemiro, and Toni Kroos could see the end of their partnership once the 2022-23 season comes to an end, as the German midfielder has failed to reach an agreement to extend his deal with Los Blancos beyond next season.

The 32-year-old footballer joined Los Blancos in the 2014-15 season and quickly became a fan favorite due to his precise passing, his long-range shots and his overall leadership. Kroos has been an integral part of Real Madrid's success, but neither the club nor the footballer seem ready to give in to each other's demands, which could cause Kroos' departure by the end of next season.

Apparently, Kroos believes that his place in the team's regular lineups will no longer be secure after the team's recent transfer activity, which has seen them signing players such as Eduardo Camaving and Aurelien Tchouaméni, who are seen as the players that will carry on with the team's legacy in years to come. The information shared by Ser Deportivos suggests that Kroos wants to see how things roll with him and the team before he puts pen to paper to a contract extension.

Added to that, Kroos has reportedly told Real Madrid's hierarchy that he does not want to be "a burden" to the club, and once he figures out the role he will have with the team in years to come, he will agree to extend his deal with Los Merengues if both the club and the player feel it to be necessary.

Kroos' resume with the club includes three La Liga titles, four UEFA Champions League crowns, four FIFA Club World Cup wins, and three Supercopa de España titles, among many other accolades. More than that, his partnership with Casemiro and Luka Modric has often been named as one of the best in the game in recent years, and only time will tell if such a historic partnership comes to an end once the 2022-23 campaign comes to a close.
