Frank Lampard struck an 89th minute winning goal to give fourth placed Chelsea a vital 2-1 win at Wolves.
Brazilian midfielder Ramires opened the scoring for Chelsea during the second half, before Stephen Ward equalized in the 84th minute. The Wolves fans thought their side had earned a battling point, but Lampard broke the hearts of the Molineux faithful when he volleyed home Ashley Cole’s cross.

Wolves almost took a first minute lead, but David Jones cold not finish after pouncing on Jose Bosingwa’s errant back-pass.

Fans of the English game will be treated with Carling Cup football tonight. There could be 90 minutes of good football, drama and physical tension at Goodison Park, the Britannia Stadium and at the Molineux.
Four matches will kick off with Blackburn Rovers vs Newcastle United being, arguably, the least interesting clash. At 2:45pm EST and 6:45pm GMT, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Manchester City will get things underway. Simultaneously, Liverpool will battle it out against Stoke City at the venue where the Merseyside Reds experienced their first defeat this season.

Stoke City, being unbeaten at home domestically, are looking to upset Liverpool. Kenny Dalglish, meanwhile, is aware of the danger that his side will face tonight. Liverpool have made of the Carling Cup a priority this season so they wouldn’t want to lose this Fourth Round fixture.

Arsenal vs Wolves By Far More Crucial Than Arsenal vs Barcelona – Arsene Wenger

Coach Arsene Wenger has stated that the Arsenal vs Wolverhampton Wanderers match in the Premier League had much more importance than the Arsenal vs Barcelona match in the Champions League.
Arsenal currently sit in second place with 50 points; 4 points behind table leaders Manchester United. The Gunners still have a pretty good chance of winning their first Premier League title since the departure of legend Thierry Henry, and Arsene Wenger has refused to give the Champions League competition a higher priority than the EPL.

Arsenal were defeated 6-3 on aggregate in the quarter-finals last season by Barcelona, but Wenger believes that a victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers would be vital ahead of his clash against the Catalans. Although the manager is not prepared to put his entire mind on his mid-week match, he feels that the result will be less frustrating than the last time around, and that his side will manage to show great strength, and less respect.
