USA vs Scotland and Jurgen Klinsmann’s challenge ahead of next five games

Jurgen Klinsmann will be testing the strength and spirit of USA when he leads his men against Scotland in the first of a series of important games.
The former Germany coach named his final 23-man squad ahead of his three friendlies against Scotland, Brazil and USA, and also his two World Cup qualifying matches against Antigua & Bermuda and Guatemala.

Klinsmann initially called up 27 players at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando; but having now made his selection, the entire team is now heading to Jacksonville prior to their Scotland encounter on May 26 at EverBank Field.

For the USA manager, who won his last four international games, the Stars and Stripes can accept nothing other than good results in the Five-Game Tournament, which is supposed to mimic the pressure and consequences of a true tournament.

With 24 points from 8 games, Spain secured automatic tickets to this summer’s competition. However, the road was not as smooth as numbers may suggest.

Scotland threatened Spain’s perfect record when both teams met in Glasgow in October 2010. A 58th minute strike from Naismith and a 67th minute own goal from Gerard Pique cancelled Spain’s 2-0 lead. However, Fernando Llorente rescued his side with a winner 11 minutes from time.

Fernando Santos names 25-man provisional squad for Greece

Fernando Santos went with experience over youth in his 25-man selection. Will this prove fatal for the Greeks in this summers Euro 2012?
Over the last few weeks there have been many rumors regarding who Fernando Santos would choose for this summers Euro 2012. It is now safe to say that he may have thrown many people a curve ball with his 25-man provisional roster. Looking at the squad he chose, he clearly went for experience over youth, which leaves many fans surprised.

One of the surprises for many was the inclusion of 36-year-old Nikos Liberopoulos from AEK Athens FC. Although he only featured two times for Greece in the qualifying stage of the competition, he somehow managed to beat out PAOK FC's Stefanos Athanasiadis who had an impressive campaign.

Santos passed up on two other promising young talents - Apoel goalkeeper Dionysis Chiotis and Panathinaikos striker Lazaros Christodoulopoulos. After the stellar display Chiotis had in the UEFA Champions League this season, many would have though that he would have been an option.

The Portuguese head coach said that the Quarter Finals is his primary goal. Is that good enough for a squad with the talent of the Portuguese?
On Monday afternoon, Portuguese National Team coach Paulo Bento announced his squad of 23 players for the upcoming Euro 2012. While their were a few players left out that may have left some Portugal fan's confused, for the most part the picks were what many expected.

In Paulo Bento's press conference he said: "Our goal is to reach the quarter-finals, and then once we get there we will work to make it further."

"Holland and Denmark are potential candidates for the title and it is possible that the next European Champion could come from our group," said Paulo Bento.

Manchester City avoid dramatic anti-climax, QPR survive, Arsenal finish third

Manchester United were seconds away from winning the English Premier League title when Manchester City issued a dramatic comeback.

The 2011/12 English Premier League title goes to Manchester City.At Sunderland, Man United did their homework by recording a 1-0 victory thanks to Rooney’s lone goal but at the Etihad Stadium, Manchester City did the impossible. The Citizens netted 2 goals in injury time to turn around a 2-1 deficit against Queens Park Rangers.

The latter got reduced to ten men early in the second period as Joey Barton kicked Carlos Tevez with his elbow. With the numerical disadvantage, City became ultra-defensive.

However, the introduction of Armand Traore was the turning point in the game. Out of nowhere, Queens Park Rangers went 2-1 up inside the 66th minute.

Traore’s run down the left wing was vital in the build up to his team’s second goal. Djibril Cisse had previously equalized Zabaleta’s first-half opener.

The efficient Argentine denied claims that he and his counterpart will have a direct influence on the outcome of Wednesday's Europa League final.
Diego Simeone recognized that although Marcelo Bielsa is an important figure for Athletic Bilbao, it will be the players who decide the outcome of the final of the Europa League on Wednesday.

"The players are the ones that play and we are only on the outside. Like I have always said, I have great admiration for Bielsa, and great memories. He is a great professional," Simeone declared to the press.

The Argentine coach, who lifted the UEFA Cup as a player with Inter Milan, is conscious that in order to win matches of this nature, experience is very important, because the players who are more accustomed to fighting for big things know how to deal with the added pressure and the nervousness better than those who lack experience.

The Inter Milan coach will be hoping to guide his team to a victory which would keep their Champions League aspirations alive.
Andrea Stramaccioni, the coach of Inter Milan, admitted that while arch-rivals AC Milan will confront the city derby with the Scudetto in their sights, the game is equally important for his side.

Inter currently find themselves three points away from the Champions League qualification zone, which currently belongs to Napoli, and will need to claim maximum points against Milan to remain in the hunt for the third and final Champions League spot.

Stramaccioni, who has put in an acceptable effort since replacing Claudio Ranieri as the coach of Inter in March, is more than aware of the importance of the derby for his side.

Andrea Stramaccioni is more than aware that Inter Milan face a depleted Cesena, but won't be taking any chances, especially because Cesena had Juventus deadlocked for a good eighty minutes before the league leaders finally edged them 1-0 in an evenly-balanced clash midweek.

"The team we'll be up against tomorrow are clearly having a difficult time of things because they've just been relegated but if we look at their recent performances they've only lost to Juventus, and that was 10 minutes from the end after playing the whole game at high tempo," affirmed Stramaccioni during a pre-match press conference.

"We certainly won't underestimate Cesena: Inter will have to be very good tomorrow. We've got ourselves in a position where this is an important match and we want to do well in front of our fans. We're fired up and, as I said, we're not underestimating Cesena but tomorrow I want to see a top performance from Inter."

"Tomorrow's match counts more than the others because it is the one that comes first. We know the extreme difficulties that await us at the Olimpico, and we will prepare for them in the best possible manner," said Mazzarri.

The English Premier League have decided to retain the traditional ritual due to legal purposes.
Pre-match team handshakes will be suspended prior to Sunday's match between Chelsea and Queens Park Rangers at Stamford Bridge.

Terry, the captain of Chelsea, is accused of racially abusing QPR defender Anton Ferdinand during a Premier League game in October and due to this the EPL believed it was best to retain team handshakes.

"The Premier League position on the pre-match handshake convention remains consistent. In all normal circumstances it must be observed," the Premier League announced in an official statement.
