Sir Alex Ferguson Hails 'Rooney-Hernandez' Partnership

Sir Alex Ferguson has heaped praise on Javier Hernandez and Wayne Rooney after seeing both of them combine to devastating effect as United knocked Marseille out of the competition.
Two predatory goals from Javier Hernandez sealed the win against Marseille as Manchester United booked a spot in the quarter finals. While 'Chicharito' took all the plaudits for scoring two important goals, Wayne Rooney was lethal all night long and was subsequently voted as the man of the match.

Hernandez and Rooney have now started the last two matches and Sir Alex Ferguson believes that both of them are beginning to show their great understanding on the pitch.

"It's been developing well,'' he said. ''Where Wayne has been playing in the past couple of games he is a real threat. He has such power and speed and Hernandez is unbelievable with his movement. The boy has goals in him.''

Who Said Manchester United Were Beatable? Olympique Marseille Did

Tuesday March 15 2011,
Tags: Lucho Gonzalez
There’s no reason for Manchester United to feel so confident of reaching the UEFA Champions League’s quarter-finals, according to Marseille’s players. Tonight’s tie remains open, they believe.
Fact: a score draw at Old Trafford between Manchester United and Olympique Marseille, and the French will go through to the next stage of the competition. It may not be very easy for Tuesday night’s visitors to clinch at least a draw, but Lucho Gonzalez remains confident.

Manchester United, he says, are not more the “Invincible team” they used to be. The Sun quoted him as saying:

“We go to Manchester without fear and ready to beat United. They may look upon Old Trafford as a bunker, but the challenge of beating them there is very attractive to us.

There are three things that have left the Manchester United manager with a few problems to solve ahead of the big moment on Tuesday night. These things are the Red Devils’ failure to get an away goal, Marseille’s strength as a team, and the Didier Deschamps factor. Ferguson couldn’t explain his worries better than that when he talked to UEFA.com as he said:

“We are up against a very experienced, powerful Marseille team who will want to play well. “We’ve watched them twice playing away from home.

“Against [AS] Monaco [FC] and [Stade Rennais FC], and they showed the qualities we expect to see again tomorrow. Marseille will try and hit us on the break.

Manchester United and Olympique Marseille battled out a stalemate in Stade Velodrome and Ferguson believes that the scoreline has the potential to be a dangerous one for United.

"The game was a disappointing game to me," he told ITV Sport.

"The pitch was lively, but they made sure they didn’t want to lose a goal and that was an example of it at the end.

"It can be dangerous if you lose a goal at home, but for us it's about winning the game. If we win the game, we’re through. I think we have a good chance."

Marseille Vs Manchester United: I Regret Bad Episode With Ferguson - Heinze

Olympique Marseille defender Gabriel Heinze has admitted that he feels sorry for the manner in which he left Manchester United in 2007
Heinze has become an integral part of Didier Deschamps set-up in Marseille after joining them from Real Madrid. He is now preparing to face Manchester United in his second season with the French club after helping them to win the league last season.

Champions League: Chelsea To Take Marseille Match As Spirit Booster

Wednesday December 8 2010,
Tags: Champions League, Olympique Marseille, Chelsea
Chelsea play away to Olympique Marseille on Wednesday night and the Blues, who are guaranteed a top spot finish in Group F, want to use this match to turn the tables around.
Chelsea are surprisingly going through a tough period currently. The Blues, who had wonderful results at the beginning of the season, have won only 2 of their last 7 matches in all competitions. In the English Premier League, Chelsea have slipped onto 3rd and suddenly, they seem to struggle whereas they looked almost unstoppable at the top of the standings back in September and October.

To end an alarming run of 4 defeats on the trot last month, Chelsea recorded a hard-fought 2-1 victory at Stamford Bridge against MSK Zilina in the Champions League. But then, this result didn’t help the Blues to turn around their misfortunes. They’ve remained winless until now as they prepare to face Marseille in France.

Champions League: Chelsea’s Ancelotti Relaxed Ahead Of Olympique Marseille Match

Chelsea have lost twice on the trot lately and negative criticism has eventually started to flow. However, Carlo Ancelotti is relaxed ahead of their Champions League match against Olympique Marseille.

Chelsea Coach Carlo Ancelotti has no concerns ahead of the Blues' UEFA Champions League match against Olympique Marseille. The London club has experienced two defeats on the trot lately, meanwhile. The Italian manager will be without the injured Frank Lampard who is still on the sidelines with a groin problem. However, this issue doesn’t bother him the least. Speaking to The Sun, the Chelsea coach boldly declared:

“One minute, people are telling me that my squad is full of old players. Now, they say we are too young and that we have no experience.

“It’s normal to have two or three injuries in the season, and this isn’t a problem for us. Obviously, it’s more important to have experience in the squad.
