England Euro 2012 Profile: Review of England's team, coach and more

Whether they play good or bad, England are sure to attract the media’s attention at the 2012 European Championship hosted by Poland and Ukraine.

The pressure is firmly on England ahead of Euro 2012.How England qualified for Euro 2012

The Three Lions went through the Euro Cup qualifiers unbeaten under the guidance of Fabio Capello. They netted 17 goals and conceded just 5 in their 8 matches. Montenegro and Switzerland gave them the biggest scare. The former stole 4 points away from England through a goalless encounter at Wembley and a 2-2 draw in Podgorica.

That game in Montenegro saw Wayne Rooney get in serious trouble. The Manchester United striker lost his mind and got sent off with a rash retaliation on a Montengran opponent. His direct red card offense means that England will have to do without his services on the first 2 Matchdays of the competition.

Chelsea vs Barcelona and Mourinho’s prediction: Are Barca sure Champions League finalists?

The Chelsea vs Barcelona match is factually a huge matchup, and in this article, we look at Jose Mourinho’s controversial statement, while we analyse various aspects of the game.

Barcelona are super-favourties over Chelsea in the Champions League semifinals according to Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho. It was just after Real Madrid’s qualification into the semi-final of the UEFA Champions League that Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho began what appeared to be mind games with rival Pep Guardiola, as he downgraded Chelsea’s status by overly elevating the Catalans prior to their meeting at the Stamford Bridge.

“It could be Bayern or Barcelona,” the BBC quoted him saying. “I just don't think it will be Real Madrid v Chelsea and we know why.”

"Barcelona aren't the favourites, they are super-favourites."

Such a statement – especially from a football personality as experienced as Jose Mourinho – cannot be instantly substantiated. One can even question the level of sincerity behind this statement.

Exaggeration of opinion? Perhaps, but it is easier to believe that the Real Madrid manager was simply trying to make one or several points implicitly.

Wolverhampton Wanderers 1 Chelsea 2: Has Frank Lampard’s late winner kept Chelsea’s title dream alive?

Tuesday January 3 2012,
Tags: Chelsea, Wolves, EPL
Frank Lampard struck an 89th minute winning goal to give fourth placed Chelsea a vital 2-1 win at Wolves.
Brazilian midfielder Ramires opened the scoring for Chelsea during the second half, before Stephen Ward equalized in the 84th minute. The Wolves fans thought their side had earned a battling point, but Lampard broke the hearts of the Molineux faithful when he volleyed home Ashley Cole’s cross.

Wolves almost took a first minute lead, but David Jones cold not finish after pouncing on Jose Bosingwa’s errant back-pass.

The visitors settled into the game and began to dominate possession for long spells. Heavily criticized striker Fernando Torres looked sharp in the opening exchanges, and released Juan Mata with a slick through ball, only for Wayne Hennessey to rush out and smother the shot.

First signs of strain show in relationship between Frank Lampard and Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas

Tuesday December 13 2011,
Tags: Chelsea, Frank Lampard, Andre Villas-Boas
Chelsea earned a crucial 2-1 win over Manchester City last night at Stamford Bridge, handing league leaders City their first defeat of the season.
Blues boss Andre Villas-Boas described himself as “very, very happy” with the result, and claimed that Chelsea had got their title bid “back on track” with the win.

Villas-Boas introduced England international midfielder Frank Lampard off the bench in the 73rd minute, and was rewarded nine minutes later when Lampard fired home the winning goal from the penalty spot.

Lampard is a team guy who has made himself a legend at Stamford Bridge, and it was expected he would express his joy after what has a huge result for the Blues.

That is not quite what transpired, and Lampard used his post-match interview to vent his disappointment about his role as a substitute. The England midfielder also suggested he is experiencing a lack of communication from Villas-Boas regarding his status in the squad.

Why Chelsea and England Midfielder Frank Lampard is an Excellent Role Model for All Young Players

Monday November 14 2011,
Tags: Frank Lampard, Chelsea, England
Frank Lampard captained England for the second time in his career during last Friday’s 1-0 win over reigning world champions Spain.
Lampard performed strongly in a resilient defensive performance from England, and scored the decisive goal when he headed home a loose ball inside the six-yard box.

The England captaincy will now be stripped from Lampard after he has done nothing wrong, and handed back to under-fire John Terry.

The reaction to this from Lampard is sadly uncommon in today’s professional football environment. Lampard will take it like a man, not complain and simply do the job he is asked to do by Three Lions boss Fabio Capello.

Compare this to Michael Ballack’s behavior during the World Cup in 2010. Ballack was unable to participate in the South Africa tournament, so was obviously replaced as captain.

England vs Sweden Preview

Monday November 14 2011,
Tags: England, Sweden, Frank Lampard
England will look to end a 43-year winless run against Sweden when the two teams clash at Wembley Stadium on Tuesday.
World Cup winners Martin Peters, Bobby Charlton and Roger Hunt were on the score sheet the last time the Three Lions beat the Swedes in 1968.

Sunderland midfielder Sebastian Larsson has been reminding his English teammates of the Swede’s success against England in the Black Cats dressing room.

“I’ve certainly let my English colleagues know before this game,” an amused Larsson told the Daily Mirror. “It’s a funny statistic, and hopefully we can keep it going for a few more years and reach 50. That will be good.”

England will be entering this game high in confidence after beating European and World Champions Spain 1-0 over the weekend.

Why Retaining Chelsea’s John Terry as England Captain is Poor Leadership from Fabio Capello

Friday November 11 2011,
Tags: England, John Terry, Fabio Capello, Frank Lampard
Frank Lampard will be handed the England captaincy for only the second time in is career against world champions Spain this weekend.
This will be Lampard’s 90th game for his country, and the veteran midfielder has netted 22 goals for the Three Lions. He also won the England national team Player of the Year award in 2004 and 2005.

While Lampard’s career on the field for England merits the honor of captaincy, sadly this game will be just another chapter in the poor leadership of Fabio Capello.

Regardless of how well Lampard leads the team against Spain, Capello has already said that John Terry will be reinstated as captain for the game against Sweden.

That is the same John Terry who has previously been axed as captain when Capello wanted to send the message that off-field behavior counted for something in the dressing room. Clearly that is not the case with Capello, and it is starting to seem more like a case of keeping Terry happy in order to keep control of the team.

Frank Lampard up for England vs Spain friendly challenge ahead of Euro 2012

Monday November 7 2011,
The Three Lions are gearing up to host Vicente del Bosque’s men in London on Friday. England vs Spain is meant to offer Capello’s side a real test ahead of next year’s European Championship.
“Spain are a great team with so many great players. So the experience of taking them on at Wembley will be fantastic for us,” Chelsea’s Frank Lampard declared according to The Sun.

“It will be a terrific test against such a quality side and such brilliant individuals.

“But if we can put in a top performance — as I'm sure we can — it can give us a real boost for what's in store at the European Championship finals next summer.”

England are expected to be without prolific goal scorer Wayne Rooney throughout the group stages of the tournament. Against the Spaniards at Wembley, the Three Lions will experience how it is like to play without Rooney in such a big fixture.

Valencia 1 Chelsea 1: Frank Lampard’s Professionalism is in Stark Contrast to Idiotic Carlos Tevez

Thursday September 29 2011,
Tags: Chelsea, Frank Lampard, Carlos Tevez, UEFA Champions League
Chelsea earned a hard fought point to stay on top of UEFA Champions League Group E with a 1-1 draw at Valencia.
In a week where the selfish ego of Carlos Tevez has dominated headlines, it was noticeable that another star player who spent excessive time on the bench made a positive impact for the Blues.

Lampard has found himself on the bench more often than he would like for both club and country of late, but the midfielder is choosing to act like a grown man and fight for his place like a true professional.

A few tabloid newspapers chose to highlight the fact that Lampard headed to the dressing room five minutes before the end of Chelsea’s 4-1 win over Swansea City. Sadly, while they were busy trying to create a scandal, those newspapers neglected to mention the fact that Lampard put himself through a full training session on the Stamford Bridge pitch that night immediately after the game.

Chelsea Midfielder Frank Lampard has Plenty of Gas Left in the Tank

Sunday September 11 2011,
Tags: Frank Lampard, Chelsea, England
Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard received plenty of familiar criticism during the international break, with the usual pundit predictions of his career at the top level being done.
Lampard was left out of the England national team lineup last Friday in Bugaria, and the impressive performance of England led many critics to believe it was a case of addition by subtraction in the England midfield.

Chelsea captain John Terry and England manager Fabio Capello assured the media after the game that Lampard’s career was not over. Capello lived up to those words by selecting the Chelsea midfielder to start against Wales in midweek.

England looked slower and less dynamic on the Wales victory than they had in Bulgaria, and the sole blame was laid predictably at the feet of Lampard by many critics. The aging center midfielder slowed play down, did not keep up with play and has played his last England game many believe.

England Vs Switzerland: Lampard Motivated By Youngsters In England Fold

Wednesday June 1 2011,
Tags: Frank Lampard, England, Chelsea
Frank Lampard has revealed that competing with youngsters for a place in England's first team drives him on each time he reports for national duty.
Frank Lampard might be an experienced midfielder but even he reckons that none of that matters with the amount of quality present within the youth talent in the Three Lions squad. The Chelsea midfielder however insists that all these things can only further motivate him as England prepare to host Switzerland this weekend.

“When I first came into the squad I looked at Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt in the midfield and thought to myself ‘I’m after your shirt,’ and the young ones are now saying the same about me.

“That’s my challenge. It drives me on to stay in the side."

England vs Ghana: Why Only Ghanaian Fans Can Be Angry At Capello’s Idea

Capello has let down millions of fans around the world with his second-string team idea ahead of England vs Ghana. But Live Soccer TV explains why only Ghanaians have the right to worry that much.
So English fans are expressing their concerns at having paid so much money to see reserve players filling the positions of the Three Lions’ top stars, and do they have a point? Certainly, they do. But in a sense, should it matter that much?

The home crowd at Wembley is used to witnessing unimpressive performances from England and responding to poor displays with boos has even become a routine. The average fan may agree with me that the best way to ignore the huge price of a match ticket is to be treated with a great performance by the players on the pitch.

Wales vs England Report

England moved back top of Euro 2012 Qualifying Group C courtesy of a 2-0 win over Wales in Cardiff.

A passionate Wales crowd booed the English anthem but were silenced only seven minutes in when James Collins bundled over England winger Ashley Young and a penalty was awarded. Midfielder Lampard stepped up to calmly convert the penalty and give the Three Lions a 1-0 lead.

Wales vs England: Why Frank Lampard’s Expected Bench Role Is Justified

Is it wrong for Fabio Capello to leave out Frank Lampard behind for Saturday’s Wales vs England Euro 2012 qualifying match? Surely, not. Live Soccer TV explains why.

Frank Lampard won't carry England's captain armband against Wales as John Terry has been restored to this role. This Season: What Frank Lampard’s Statistics Tell

Injuries, lots of injuries... they’ve cost Lampard much this season. Eventually, the Chelsea midfielder has made only 21 appearances in all competitions for the Blues, so far. Remarkably, however, Lampard has managed to clinch 9 goals and to have 5 assists in his name already. So does he lack match fitness?

Well, looking at his recent achievements, one may prefer to think that if he's not in top form, he is at least in good shape enough to represent England against Wales this weekend. Lampard has considerably contributed in most of Chelsea’s positive aspects since the past few weeks. Call it luck or not, but the number 8 midfielder was the one who downed Manchester United at the Bridge from the spot.

Chelsea Vs Manchester United: Back In The Title Race? Absolutely - Frank Lampard

Wednesday March 2 2011,
Tags: Chelsea, Manchester United, Frank Lampard, Premier League
Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard has stated that Chelsea are now back in the title race after their 2-1 triumph over Manchester United at Stamford Bridge last night.
Chelsea defeated Manchester United after David Luiz and Frank Lampard both scored to cancel out Wayne Rooney's early goal for Manchester United. Frank Lampard's winning goal sealed a very important victory for Chelsea- one that Lampard feels has put them back on the title race.

Chelsea are now 12 points behind Manchester United but Lampard believes that this victory and any improvisation in their front three's form would be a springboard to get back into the title race.

“We’ve closed that gap today, there’s still a long way to go, Man United are still deservedly top of the league, but we’ve showed there’s some fight in us as we’ve shown tonight,” Lampard told Sky Sports.

Chelsea vs Manchester United: Chelsea Players To Watch

As our coverage on the Chelsea vs Manchester United match in the Premier League continues, Live Soccer TV brings you statistics and facts on the Chelsea players to watch in the clash.

Petr Cech will be a player to watch in the Chelsea vs Manchester United Premier League match at the Stamford Bridge tonight.Petr Cech

Cech is actually not having the best of moments in his career right now. The highly-esteemed goalkeeper has conceded 22 goals in 26 Premier League starts for Chelsea, but he also has 74 saves on his account. Impressive or not, he is expected to protect the Blues’ post against Manchester United this evening, and this means nothing but danger and a warning for the Red Devils’ Wayne Rooney and Dimitar Berbatov.

John Terry

John Terry is the one who got the first and last goal in the last Chelsea vs Manchester United match in the Premier League. It was his second-half winning header which silenced the Mancunians at the Stamford Bridge at the beginning of last season. Away from his ability to score important headers, Terry can be regarded as the rock of Chelsea’s defense. He has so often been the main helper in the Blues’ defense against the league leaders. This time around, he could well show his greatness on another occasion by helping Petr Cech to keep a clean sheet. Presumably, a goal from the English captain would be more than ideal, but this might not be Terry’s priority, as his tasks at the back are unbelievably massive.

Frank Lampard will captain England as they travel to face Denmark on Wednesday.
Chelsea midfielder Lampard takes over the armband after Rio Ferdinand and Steven Gerrard both withdrew from the squad with injury. Lampard will be partnered in centre midfield by Arsenal youngster Jack Wilshere.

Wilshere is a bright young prospect, and is expected to be employed as a holding midfielder allowing Lampard to get forward and add to his career tally of 20 goals in 83 games for England. “I hope the option will be for Wilshere to stay in front of the back four, like a centre-back,” England manager Fabio Capello told BBC Sport.

England defender Ashley Cole will make history on Wednesday as he becomes his nation’s most capped fullback, surpassing Kenny Sansom’s record of 86 caps. Joe Hart will receive the start behind Cole in the England goal.

Denmark Vs England: Frank Lampard Named As Captain

Wednesday February 9 2011,
Tags: England, Denmark, Frank Lampard, Fabio Capello, Friendly
Frank Lampard has been named captain for the clash against Denmark after injuries ruled Steven Gerrard and Rio Ferdinand out of the squad.
Rio Ferdinand is the permanent captain for England but he suffered a groin injury prior to Manchester United's league defeat against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Steven Gerrard was the obvious second choice but even he was unfortunately sidelined by an injury suffered in the match against Chelsea. Now, Frank Lampard has been handed the duties of being a leader on the pitch against Denmark later today

England coach Fabio Capello said: ''I spoke with him [Lampard] about his injury that he suffered and I have been monitoring him during the last five games that he played. He has improved a lot. I saw him play against Liverpool and thought that he had a really good game - probably he is fresher than the other players.''

Frank Lampard Confession: EPL Champs Chelsea Lost In Tribulations

Frank Lampard has spoken: Chelsea have lost control of their confidence as their bad period is yet to end. Can they find back the invincible form that saw them win the FA Cup and EPL last season?
Chelsea’s Frank Lampard talked exclusively to The Sun as he discussed about the Blues’ state of mind at this point in time. The influential midfielder settled to say the truth about his struggling team as he avowed that Chelsea players had indeed lost the vital feeling of belief in being successful on the pitch.

“At the moment, there is a bit of feeling that we aren’t sure of what is going to happen when we go out there,” Frank Lampard told The Sun.

“If we are honest, we all think that. That’s just the way it is. You can’t help that. It won’t change anyone’s determination to want to win, but you cannot help but feel it as we haven’t been winning.

Arsenal vs Chelsea: Top 5 Chelsea Players To Watch

We’ve looked at the Gunner’s 5 players to watch prior to the upcoming Arsenal vs Chelsea match in the Premier League today, and now it is time to focus on the Blues’ side.

Chelsea goalie Petr Cech will be a key player against the Gunners in the Arsenal vs Chelsea gamePetr Cech

Yes, recently, Petr Cech has not been as powerful as he used to be in the past. Especially in Chelsea’s 3-0 defeat to Sunderland this season, his performance was absolutely below par. However, he is still the pit of Chelsea’s defensive structure, and incontrovertibly, he remains one of the best keepers in the EPL.

His reflex, punches, and catches—thanks to his height—have deeply troubled opposing forwards over the years, and every time the Londoners get into action, it is unlikely that the Premier League title holders will concede much. Sadly for them, this has not been the case lately, but today, Petr Cech could find back his form and stand as the shield of the visitors against Arsenal the Gunners.
