Adrian Healey Named Lead Voice for ESPN’s Major League Soccer Telecasts

John Harkes, Alexi Lalas, Max Bretos, Rob Stone and Taylor Twellman return
ESPN has named Adrian Healey, a play-by-play commentator from the network’s critically acclaimed 2010 FIFA World Cup team, as its primary voice for Major League Soccer telecasts beginning this season. Healey will pair with former U.S. Men’s National Team captain and ESPN 2010 FIFA World Cup match analyst John Harkes in the booth.

Healey will make his debut in the 2011 Major League Soccer season-opener – Los Angeles Galaxy at Seattle Sounders FC – Tuesday, March 15, at 9:30 p.m. ET on ESPN, ESPN3.com and ESPN Mobile TV.

Healey joined ESPN in 2003 as a play-by-play commentator for ESPN International’s coverage of several European leagues, including UEFA Champions League. He also hosts ESPN Soccernet Press Pass, the popular soccer opinion and debate program aired on ESPN International’s English-language networks around the world, and seen online at ESPN.com/soccer.

ESPN and ESPN Radio Commentator Assignments for 2010 FIFA World Cup

ESPN’s comprehensive coverage of the 2010 FIFA World Cup (June 11-July 11) from South Africa will include all 64 matches televised live and in high definition on ESPN, ESPN2 and ABC, as well as extensive coverage on ESPN3.com and ESPN Mobile TV.

ESPN Radio will also broadcast all 64 matches. Today, ESPN FIFA World Cup executive producer Jed Drake announced the ESPN commentator assignments for the first 10 days of the tournament (through each team’s first two matches of pool play). Highlights:
 
Legendary play-by-play commentator Martin Tyler, who has called every FIFA World Cup tournament since 1978, will pair with former Nigerian National Team player Efan Ekoku on the opening match – South Africa vs. Mexico – from Johannesburg Friday, June 11 at 9:30 a.m. ET (ESPN);

Tyler and former United States National Team captain John Harkes will call the England vs. U.S. match from Rustenburg Saturday, June 12 at 2 p.m. (ABC), one of the most anticipated matches of the tournament;
Harkes will serve as match analyst on all U.S. team matches, paired with different play-by-play commentators;
