Vasco, who are still on track to win the Brazilian championship with two matches left to play against crosstown rivals Fluminense and Flamengo, have without any doubt the best attack of the Copa Sudamericana, however, their defense leaves a lot to be desired.

Cristovao Borges, the coach of Vasco, has discarded all possibilities of fielding a reserve side against the Chileans, as he will confront the semi-final with his strongest team possible, which includes top-quality defender and regular goal-scorer Dede, as well as skillful midfielders and dead-ball specialists Juninho Pernambucano and Felipe.

Ronaldinho and his Flamengo humiliated at home by Universidad de Chile.
There were mixed fortunes for Brazilian sides in the Copa Sudamericana on Wednesday, as while Sao Paulo moved a step closer towards the quarter-finals after beating Libertad, Flamengo have practically kissed their chances of advancing goodbye after being on the wrong end of a heavy defeat to Universidad de Chile.

Flamengo, one of the main title candidates coming into the competition, will need to pray for a miracle in Santiago in order to reach the next phase, because as for now this seems almost an impossible task.

Meanwhile, Argentine side Arsenal de Sarandi are only the second side to have qualified for the quarter-finals along with Liga de Quito, after scraping past Olimpia of Paraguay in what was undoubtedly the best match of the tournament up until now.

Independiente vs Liga de Quito Report

Friday November 26 2010,
Tags: Copa Sudamericana 2010, Independiente, Liga, Semi-finals
Independiente defeated reigning champion Liga scoring two goals and advanced to the finals.
Facundo Parra and Hernan Fredes gave Antonio Mohammed's Diablos an important victory that allowed them to overcome the defeat suffered last week in Ecuador 3-2.

Rojos followers were overexcited by the victory and it seems such decisive victory might be enough for Antonio Mohammed to cope with his team's unsuccessful performance in the Apertura, sitting in the 18th position with 13 points.

To make things even better, Independiente celebrated an important victory at the derby against Racing this season. It seems like Independiente plays better under a strong pressure and it'll surely come in handy to defy Brazilian Goias in the fight for America most coveted title.

Facundo Parra opened the score early on the 26th minute but before the first half was over Juan Manuel Salgueiro found the equalizer.

Independiente experienced defender Eduardo Tuzzio declared that his side was superior "But the goal at the end of the first half caught us off guard. We never gave up and eventually we got what we were looking for" "We played against a major South American powerhouse but won thanks to our concentration and raging hunger for glory" added striker Facundo Parra.

Independiente vs Liga de Quito Preview

Thursday November 25 2010,
Tags: Copa Sudamericana 2010, Independiente, Liga, Semi-finals
Brazilian Goias waits for the winner to see who claims America's most coveted title of the year.
Liga was close from securing half a ticket for Sudamericana final in Quito last week as Edgardo Bauza's boys opened a three goals gap in less than twenty minutes as Juan Manuel Salgueiro, Miller Bolaños and Néicer Reasco beat Hilario Navarro's goal without hesitating.

Antonio Mohammed's Rojos managed to come back from such an awkward position and the two goals score playing away can be decisive in this competition.

There seems to be some kind of morbid pleasure behind Liga tight schedule, as the Ecuadorian side will be playing its third game in less than four days and such demand has had a major impact on the form of Bauza's players.
