Robinho has only starting to make an impact at the San Siro since he was signed from Manchester City for €18M in August 2010. The 27-year-old winger struggled to win a regular place in AC Milan’s starting XI during the first few months but he has now made 28 appearances in all competitions for his new club. His 10 goals in Italy’s Serie A have also helped Milan’s Scudetto aspirations.
In the absence of the suspended Ibrahimovic, Robinho is expected to carry the Rossoneri’s attack forward with the help of team mates Alexandre Pato and Antonio Cassano. Italian clubs have suffered over the past few years and the last two days have proved to be disastrous for them as AS Roma and AC Milan were both knocked-out of the Champions League.
It was the league that the great Diego Maradona once played in. It is the league that Marco Van Basten, Frank Rijkaard and Ruud Gullit once featured in. It is also the league where Roberto Baggio developed his legendary status. However, the Italian Serie A has suffered from a major downfall over the past few years.
Two days ago, AS Roma were trashed 3-0 at Ukraine by Shakhtar, thus knocking the Italian club out of the Champions League by an aggregate score of 6-2. Perhaps Vincenzo Montella's lack of experience in understandable. But what happened at White Hart Lane last night completely justified the decline in Italian Football.
Frankly saying, Italian Football has been a catastrophe for the past few years. While Serie A is very far from extinction- with Inter Milan doing well in Europe, but it does have a range of difficulties.

The UEFA Champions League debutants stunned AC Milan at the San Siro in the first leg of their tie. They are now on the brink of achieving something great by reaching the quarter-finals of the competition at the expense of 7-time winners Milan. However, Gianfranco Zola believes that the Italian giants will successfully overturn their defeat as he told La Gazzetta dello Sport:
“Milan have every chance of going through. Tottenham are a great team, but they are young and inexperienced.
“They will have to play openly, because they won’t stand off so the defence should concede something. Milan should be clever at profiting from it.
Flamini got harshly criticized by Harry Redknapp for leaving Corluka badly injured the last time out. But ahead of Wednesday’s Tottenham Hotspur vs AC Milan match, Flamini has hit back at the Spurs boss.

According to the Milan defensive midfielder, Harry Redknapp’s “leg-breaker” comments may even be meant to distract the Rossoneri as Tottenham aim to go past the UEFA Champions League’s Last 16 stage at all cost. The Sun reported ex-Arsenal player Mathieu Flamini as saying:
“During my four years in the Premier League, I never injured an opponent. I was never sent off in England. Never. I am a defensive midfielder, so of course I am in the 'tough' area of the pitch.
“But this was the first time a player was injured by a challenge I made. I am not a dirty player. I didn't have a bad intention.
Tottenham Hotspur vs AC Milan is set to capture the attention of UEFA Champions League football followers on Wednesday. Jermaine Defoe is eying the prospect of doing something great on that day...

After netting a brace against Wolverhampton Wanderers at the weekend, Jermaine Defoe is just a goal shy from reaching the 100-goal mark. The English striker will be making his 251st appearance for Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday at White Hart Lane in a game that could turn out to be positively memorable for the hosts.

Juventus versus Milan on Saturday is the game to watch this Serie A weekend.

Even given Juventus's well-documented, and well-lamented—by their faithful, but also journalists still yearning for a more seductive Old Lady—plaintive season, their match against Milan on Saturday will demand us to have some poetic faith. Forget for a moment that the Serie A table shows an insurmountable seventeen-point distance between Milan at the summit and Juventus; instead, try to focus on the incontrovertible fact, to me and many, that this is the biggest game in Italian football.
Inter versus Juventus may now be a case study in recriminations and the paranoid (just ask Juventus fans if they think the refereeing is not bought), Roma versus Lazio may have the bluster, but Milan versus Juventus or Juventus versus Milan as it will be tomorrow at the Stadio Olimpico in Turin seethes under the surface of good manners.
AC Milan vs Napoli is a North vs South battle, says Silvio Berlusconi. The Milan president is confident about his side’s chances of winning tonight, but so is Salvatore Carmando, Napoli’s ex-physiotherapist.

AC Milan currently lead the standings in the Italian Serie A with 55 points from 26 matches whereas Napoli aren’t far behind in third position. Tonight’s visitors have clinched 52 points so far and they’ve been tipped as hot favourites to embarrass Milan’s Scudetto challenge.
Victory for Napoli tonight will put them level on points with the Rossoneri although the goal difference rule will prevent them from toping the Serie A table. AC Milan vs Napoli is match-day 27’s biggest encounter and Silvio Berlusconi is upbeat ahead of it.
“We'll see Milan beat the south,” said the Italian Prime Minister as he joked with with Italian Chamber of Commerce members.
AC Milan’s Gattuso feels guilty for his petulance against Spurs on Tuesday night. The hot-tempered player slapped and head-butted 59-year-old Joe Jordan. He is now awaiting his sentence by UEFA.
Gattuso was visibly frustrated in the match as things didn’t go Milan’s way. In the early minutes of the second half, the Italian engaged in a violent dispute with Tottenham Hotspur’s assistant coach Joe Jordan on the touch line as the game’s atmosphere heated up following Flamini’s horror tackle on Corluka.
At the final whistle, Gattuso once again clashed with Joe Jordan after AC Milan were denied a very late equalizer by the referee for a foul in its build-up. Video evidence about Gattuso’s furious confrontation with Joe Jordan can be seen here. UEFA will now investigate the matter. According to ESPN Soccernet, UEFA’s Control and Disciplinary Body will meet on Monday to judge the case. Admitting his guilt, Gattuso explained the matter to the media:
Gattuso’s bad side went public against Tottenham Hotspur at the San Siro on Tuesday. The AC Milan player stained the game with a disgraceful violent behaviour which UEFA are looking to punish.
Tuesday night’s Champions League clash between debutants Spurs and AC Milan was an eventful one. Peter Crouch scored an 80th minute winner thanks to some great work done by Aaron Lennon as Harry Redknapp’s side took a giant step forward to qualify for the quarter-finals.
The game’s ill-tempered atmosphere commenced when Flamini executed a terrifying tackle on Corluka for which he sustained a 55th minute red card. But the ugliest scenes at the San Siro featured Gennaro Gattuso who was driven by frustration and violence.
Following Flamini’s horror tackle on Corluka, the tension in the match reached an uncontrollable level as Gattuso clashed with Spurs' assistant coach Joe Jordan. In a way or another, Gattuso escaped punishment. But his foul on Pienaar a quarter hour later finally earned him a 76th minute yellow card.
Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has blasted AC Milan midfielder Mathieu Flamini for his tackle on Vedran Corluka amd said the decision to only give him the yellow card was an absolute disgrace.

Tottenham Hotspur notched a famous victory over AC Milan in the Champions League second round first leg match at the San Siro yesterday. Peter Crouch scored the winner n the 78th minute after some fantastic work by Aaron Lennon.
However, the match was marred by some unwanted incidents and one of them was the tackle by Flamini on Corluka. Flamini went in hard with two foot on Corluka that caused the Croatian defender to leave the pitch and was later seen on crutches. Surprisingly, Flamini was only shown a red card for his dangerous tackle.
AC Milan forward Robinho has admitted that getting knocked out by Tottenham Hotspur would be a major disaster for the Italian club.

Both Milan and Spurs will meet each other tonight in the second round of the UEFA Champions League and with Harry Redknapp signaling their intent to attack; it could be a feisty encounter at San Siro
However, former Manchester City star Robinho believes that the defensive side of both teams would be the ones to decide the affair.
"Spurs may not be Manchester United or Chelsea," said Robinho, according to The Sun.
"But they are still very dangerous and we need to do well in the San Siro in the first leg to avoid going to London under too much pressure.

“It's a massive advantage to have people with experience. Here at Milan, there are many players who have won the Champions League,” the Swede told reporters on Monday.
The Rossoneri are fresh from a comfortable victory over Parma which helped them maintain their hopes of stealing the Scudetto away from Internazionale. Meanwhile, Spurs are also in good form.
They are unbeaten in the English Premier League since mid-January and their 2-1 comeback away to Sunderland last weekend has boosted their mood ahead of their Champions League encounter with Milan. Ibra is aware of the danger that the London club could present at the San Siro, but he also believes in his abilities.
Harry Redknapp has stated that Gareth Bale will most probably miss the UEFA Champions League second round clash with AC Milan

Gareth Bale is already a sensation in Italy after scoring a hat trick against Inter Milan in the group stages. With Spurs set to make another trip Milan to face AC Milan, Gareth Bale will not be able to make an impact this time around due to injury.
"Gareth is not too far away. He's not going to be fit, I don't think, for Tuesday, but he's not too bad," Redknapp said after Spurs' 2-1 victory over Sunderland.
"The specialists have seen it; he's had an epidural injection. Peter Crouch has had the same problem and he is fine - in fact, his back looked a lot worse on the scan.
Mark Van Bommel has said that he would still be open to a move to Tottenham Hotspurs in the future after seeing a move to White Hart Lane collapse during the January transfer window

Mark Van Bommel was interested in joining Spurs but the deal fell through after Harry Redknapp decided to not sign him- a decision Harry admits to regret.
Van Bommel then subsequently signed for AC Milan during the window. However, he insists that he has been impressed with what Rafael Van Der Vaart has told him and believes that Spurs could be his last club.
"We had some contact with Spurs, unfortunately it didn't work at the end," Van Bommel told Sky Sports.
"It's one of my favorite clubs in England. I really love the stadium. I know the training ground because we trained there with the national team and of course Rafael told me a lot of good things.
