As Chelsea’s season comes to an end, there seem to be more questions than answers. For Cardiff City, this match is their last in the Premier League for at least another year as they return to the Championship.

Preview: Can Chelsea end the campaign on a high?

Jose Mourinho has seemed more critical and more devoid of energy than he has in previous seasons this campaign. He has shown the press that he is well aware of his striker problem. He has Samuel Eto’o at his disposal. Eto’o of course is not at an age where he can satisfy all the requirements of the modern game. Fernando Torres hit a slump when he signed for Chelsea from Liverpool and has never found his way back. Demba Ba has just not acquired the trust from Mourinho.

The Portuguese knows his team’s sole problems lie up front. Defensively, Chelseas has been very solid throughout the season aside from a blip against Atletico Madrid in the second leg in the Champions League. They have recorded the best results against the top six in the league this season as well.

Cardiff City is Jose’s final puzzle off the season. Problems against the smaller sides such as Crystal Palace has given Mourinho plenty of headaches due to lack of goals. In truth, Chelsea could have been champions in another season. They already have 79 points to their name. However, with a potent striker such as Robert Lewandowski or even Olivier Giroud at his disposal, Mourinho could have perhaps led his side to the title itself this season.

Cardiff’s joy as a Welsh side to be playing in the Premier League was short lived. They just could not record enough points to stay up. They only have seven wins to their name this season. Their fans will hope that on the final day of their Premier League adventure, their boys will be able to record a famous victory.

Cardiff will be without the suspended Cala, Craig Noone, Andrew Taylor and Mark Hudson. Gary Medel, Mats Daehli and Kevin Theophile-Catherine are all doubtful for them. Chelsea will be without Petr Cech, Oscar, Samuel Eto’o, John Terry and the suspended Ramires. Frank Lampard is doubtful for them.
