Arsene Wenger was set to try and ensure his approximately 9-tear-long trophy drought at Arsenal ended when Arsenal faced up against Wigan Athletic at the New Wembley on 12th April 2014.

The buildup to the game was dominated by Arsenal fans who, through the Twitter hashtag #GunningForTheCup, expressed great hope that their team would finally clinch a trophy to stem the flow of mimicry and trolls from other football fans. As such, the return of injured talisman Aaron Ramsey to the lineup was highly welcomed.

Here is how the teams lined up:

Wigan Athletic: Carson, Perch, Boyce, Ramis, Crainey, McArthur, McEachran, McManaman, Beausejour, Gomez, Fortune
Subs: Al Habsi, Barnett, Caldwell, Maloney, Espinoza, Collison, Powell

Arsenal: Fabianski, Sagna, Mertesacker, Vermaelen, Monreal, Arteta, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Ramsey, Cazorla, Podolski, Sanogo
