Barcelona crashed out of the Champions League mid-week against La Liga leaders Atletico Madrid. They will now try to get past Granada, in an attempt to reclaim the top spot in the league.

Preview: Granada will try to take advantage of a frustrated Barcelona

The chase for the La Liga title continues on Saturday evening, as Barcelona travel to Granada. Bouncing back from a mid-week disappointment will be the priority, but the Catalans also have a Copa del Rey final coming up.

After a 1-0 defeat against Atletico Madrid, which eliminated Barcelona from the Champions League, many are questioning Martino’s future at the club.

He is now asking for his players to respond on Saturday, against a Granada side that are just three points clear of the relegation zone. With six league games remaining and one point between separating them from the top spot, every point is important.

“We must win the remaining six league games of the season, regardless of the name of the rival,” Martino told reporters.

“They are separate competitions. Defeat in the Champions League is painful, but we must focus on the league and the cup.”

With a lot of experience within the squad, they will know exactly what is needed to bounce back. But what could be problematic for Martino’s squad could be all the injuries.

Marc Bartra started against Atletico Madrid, but he has not been included in the squad for Saturday.

“Bartra had some discomfort after training on Friday morning,” Martino added. “We prefer not to take any risks.”

The hosts have no injury concerns within the squad, which should allow them to field their strongest squad. They are currently above the relegation zone, but with only a three-point cushion, every dropped point could be costly.

Being competitive against the Spanish champions will be step number one. After the Catalans crashed out of European Football, the hosts may be able to take advantage of a wounded squad.
