It certainly was not something PSG fans wanted to see.

Talismanic striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who has racked up an impressive 40 goals in all competitions for Les Parisiens this year, limped off the field during his side's clash with Chelsea in the second half.

It was later revealed that the 32-year-old Swedish captain had suffered a hamstring injury, effectively ruling him out for the majority of the season.

A rare sight: Ibrahimovic had to depart during the second half due to injury

As a result, an Ibra-less PSG were dumped out of the Champions League by Chelsea, despite their 3-1 advantage after the first leg. And teammate Blaise Matuidi admitted after the defeat that his side missed having the powerful striker on the pitch.

"It was a big loss not to have our top scorer Zlatan on the pitch," the French international noted following the match.

"[But while] we're disappointed we have to re-focus on our other objectives this season."

Blunt attack: Edinson Cavani was unable to fill Ibra's shoes and fire his side into the semi-finals

In a bid to get him healthy faster, the Rosengard-born attacker has returned to his homeland to continue his rehab treatment as PSG look to retain their league title.

Although they will definitely be missing their top scorer, Laurent Blanc's men can clinch the trophy if they can beat Lyon and will be hoping that Rennes do them a favour by defeating 2nd placed Monaco.
