The first Clasico of the year 2014 is a week away. Before this massive showdown, Real Madrid are looking to hit 70 points away to Malaga on March 15, 2014.

This is Real Madrid’s last hurdle before the long awaited clash at home to Barcelona on March 23 and coach Carlo Ancelotti is fully aware of the importance of winning. He stated:

“We have to keep going, we cannot relax. We have a ‘cup final’ on Saturday. Facing Barça with a four-point lead isn't the same as facing them with just a one or two-point lead.”

Marca quoted goalkeeper Diego Lopez saying as much:

“It would be three important points in the 'Clásico'. We are playing against a direct rival and we can increase the gap on them, but we have an important game before that against Malaga, we hope to play Barça with a four-point gap still and then we can increase it to seven.”

With El Clasico just around the corner, Ancelotti will reportedly rest explosive winger Angel Di Maria and replace him with Isco in the starting XI. Expect it to be an emotional return for the 21-year-old against his former team.

Malaga managed to hold Los Blancos at the Santiago Bernabeu in March 2012. Nine months later, they stunned the Spanish giants by edging a five-goal thriller 3-2 at home.

However, the last two meetings have not brought much joy to Malaga fans. In the corresponding fixture last season, Real Madrid demolished their opponents 6-2 with six different players getting on the score sheet. Earlier this season, Carlo Ancelotti’s side picked up another win thanks to goals from Di Maria and Cristiano Ronaldo while five Malaga players entered into the referee’s book.

In total, Ronaldo (12) and Benzema (7) have netted 19 goals against Los Boquerones. Will they score a few more this Saturday?
