Uruguay welcome Jordan to the Estadio Centenario for the second leg of the WCQ playoff and the visitors will be pessimistic of their chances after receiving a 5-0 mauling in the first leg.

Uruguay and Jordan will clash on November 20, 2013.Preview: Uruguay to get the job done in front of home fans

Uruguay will be full of confidence and buoyed by their performance in the first leg when they ran riot scoring five goals in the process. Maxi Pereira opened the scoring for the visitors, before Stuani, Lodeiron and Cristian Rodríguez added goal apiece. Their dominant performance was rounded off by a well taken free kick from Edison Cavani who added a fifth in added time making a comeback for the Middle Eastern side far from achievable.

There is a growing notion that Uruguay’s appearance in the second leg will only be a mere formality with the two time World Champions already having sealed a place in the last 32. However all such claims have been put to rest by coach Oscar Tabarez who has urged his players not to not get ahead of themselves and not lose their focus till the final whistle.

"We have to take Wednesday's game seriously still, we can't take anything for granted," Tabarez said at a press conference.

"It is still a very important game, therefore we are not going to make a lot of changes. Whenever we play a match, the team we introduce to the pitch depends on who we are playing and the circumstances of that match.”

"We are not here to give playing time to the players who don't deserve to be on that pitch. They have to earn those caps and the chance to play by playing well for their teams or when we play friendlies."

Jordan who already have a herculean task at hand will have an extremely difficult time getting better of a team which has not lost on home turf since October 2009. Furthermore with the likes of Edinson Cavani and Luis Suarez in the form of their lives, Jordan will be lucky to avoid another battering.

Jordan have also not fared well away from home and have not won a single away match in normal time since May 2012. The Middle Eastern side who are yet to make an appearance in the World Cup secured a play off tie with Uruguay after winning a penalty shoot out in the second leg of the AFC playoff against Uzbekistan.

Despite their humiliating defeat in the first leg, competing in a playoff is a significant improvement for a Jordan side which could not make it through the group stages of the 2010 World Cup qualification campaign.

Striker Tha'er Bewab has accepted that it would be near to impossible for his side to land a place in the World Cup but has hoped for a positive performance from his side in the second leg.

"We're not going to kid ourselves; we are very disappointed (with the first-leg defeat)," said Bewab.

"We told everyone at home it would be difficult but we hoped to give much more."

"Now we've come here for a good result. Above all for the public, we want to change our image."
