FOX Sports Media Group’s love and support for women’s soccer will be proven yet again as three of its channels prepare for the live broadcast of the NWSL Championship final, Flash vs Thorns.

Watch the NWSL final live on Saturday, August 31, 2013Preview: A fitting end to the NWSL

Thanks to Carli Lloyd’s brace against Sky Blue FC last week, New York Flash are in the final. Earlier in the season, they created a nine-game unbeaten run. They could emulate their achievement on Saturday night and eventually be crowned 2013 NWSL Championship winners.

Portland Thorns FC, meanwhile, had to sweat to make the final. They let drama rule the game as they had to come from two goals down to win 3-2.

When the Thorns and the Flash met in the regular season, they played out a 1-1 draw at the JELD-WEN Field in July before recording a 0-0 draw at Sahlen’s Stadium in August. Watch out for the all-American duels between Western New York’s Abby Wambach and Carli Lloyd, and Portland’s Alex Morgan and Tobin Heath.

The National Women’s Soccer League was founded in 2012. Comprised of eight teams – each with a home stadium, the inaugural season kicked off in April 2013. Other clubs involved were Boston Breakers, Chicago Red Stars, FC Kansas City, Seattle Reign FC, Sky Blue FC and Washington Spirit.
