A nine goal demolition of a mid-table side was enough to send chills down Antonio Conte’s spine, as he prepares his side for a scintillating tie against the Bavarians on Wednesday.
What should be more worrying for the Old Lady, is the fact that this was not even Jupp Heynckes’ first choice eleven which caused havoc at the Allianz Arena, as the manager rested some of his key players ahead of the Champions League tie.

Of the nine goals scored on Saturday, seven were scored by fringe players who are more accustomed of starting games on the bench for Bayern. Peru international Claudio Pizarro, who had before this match only started three games for the German leaders this season, was the best of the bunch as he scored his first four goals in the league this term, and played part in two other goals which were scored on the day.

Summer acquisition and Swiss international Xherdan Shaqiri, who has been on a disappointing run this season, ended the match with a goal and an assist to his name. Whereas Dutch star Arjen Robben who had been falling in the pecking order, reminded the world of his unparalleled quality by repeatedly demoralising the Hamburg defence and scoring two brilliant goals in the process.

Wednesday’s team selection will definitely give Heynckes a headache given the performances of his fringe players. The attacking trio of Mario Mandzukic , Thomas Müller and Franck Ribery are expected to be restored into the starting line-up after being rested last night and Juventus need to be well aware of the threat they can produce collectively.

The Bavarian have been on a devastating run this season, after being outclassed by Borussia Dortmund in the last two campaigns. The most successful club in Germany has once again regained its berth at the top of the table. The Bavarians are now on the verge of claiming their 23rd Bundesliga title and they have done it with some style.

Bayern currently have a staggering 20 points lead over second placed Borussia Dortmund, with 12 games still to play. This implies that Bayern can lose half of their remaining fixtures, and still be crowned as Champions by the end of the season.

Bayern have also managed a monstrous goal difference which currently stands at 65, they have scored 78 and conceded only 13 in 27 this games, which is a record any team in the world would be proud of.

The goal difference reflects Bayern’s command this season, they are not just a team with exhilarating attacking talents, but are also a cohesive unit comprising of some of the best defenders in the world. They are led by their captain Phillip Lahm who has been consistently performing well and has led the cavalry by example.

Juventus surely have an atrocious task ahead as they battle the German giants, especially when they are in such devastating form. The Old Lady are themselves cruising towards a league victory this season, and further enhanced their credentials by scoring a win over rivals Inter Milan last night. Conte will be hopeful his side can repeat the antics of last night and record a massive victory over an unstoppable Bayern side.
