Wednesday nights match between V. Setubal and Porto will close out the first half of the Portuguese season. The visitors have a chance to level first placed Benfica on points with a win.

V. Setubal and Porto will close out the first round in the Portuguese League after the match had originally been postponed due to the rain.

The visitors will be looking to eliminate a three point gap between themselves and rivals Benfica who are currently first in the domestic league. With a victory, Porto could level them on points but due to goal difference at the moment, they would need to win by four or more goals to take the top spot.

Winning by four generally is not very easy, but playing against V. Setubal could give them the opportunity to make it happen.

The Sadinos are in the relegation zone and have the worst defensive record in the league along with Nacional da Madeira. They have conceded 28 goals in 14 matches which puts them at an average of two goals against every game.

Their last time out, they left the Estadio do Axa in Braga with a 4-1 defeat, something that will not give them added confidence heading into the match against Porto.

V. Setubal's manager, Jose Mota, is well aware of how difficult a task his team is up against on Wednesday.

"We are capable of doing much better than we did in the last match. We are prepared and making the least amount of mistakes is very important. With humility, and knowing that we are going up against one of the best teams in Europe, we can hopefully take advantage of that," said Jose Mota.

Porto's manager, Vitor Pereira has been a media battle with everyone and anyone involved with Benfica since their 2-2 draw at the Estadio da Luz.

Knowing that a victory will even both sides on points, Vitor Pereira made it clear that the only reason Benfica is in first is because Porto has a game in hand.

"We know well what we want, that is first place, being in front, that is what we are used to, not just this season, but in all the other seasons. We know what this match is worth and we are out to grab the victory and if possible, also a solid performance," said Vitor Pereira in his latest press conference.

Prediction

Porto has yet to lose this season and they are well aware of how much this match could mean to their title hopes. A victory will put them even on points with Benfica, while anything less will leave them either three or two points from their Lisbon rivals.

With 11 victories in the current campaign, Porto also has three draws, of which all three came away from home.

A 2-2 draw at the Estadio da Luz against Benfica, a 2-2 draw away to Estoril and a 2-2 draw away to Rio Ave early in the season.

So, going by those numbers, it appears that if V. Setubal can score two goals, they may have a chance to tie the current Portuguese Champions.

Jose Mota's side is fighting for relegation and this match does not give them much hope, especially when you consider the history between these two when V. Setubal hosts.

The last time V. Setubal was able to defeat Porto in their own stadium was in 1983. Since then, Porto has won all their matches with the exception of five draws in the mix.

Fighting to get out of the relegation zone will be added pressure for V. Setubal, although going up against Porto, they will not be expected to win. That should allow them to play with more freedom and less pressure.

For Porto, knowing that a victory can put them even on points with Benfica, the players will be up for this match. Seeing how many goals V. Setubal gives up should make it easy for Porto go score a few goals.

V. Setubal 0-2 Porto
