The Barcelona-Malaga tie in the Copa del Rey quarter-finals remains wide open after both teams played out a 2-2 draw at the Camp Nou on January 16, 2013.

Surprisingly, the visitors opened the scoring in the game with a goal from Manuel Iturra but it was not long until Messi equalized for the hosts. A minute after the 2012 FIFA Ballon d’or winner snatched the leveller, defender Carles Puyol put Barcelonan ahead. 

Nacho Monreal saw read inside the 75th minute as Malaga were trailing 2-1.

 

However, this did not prevent them from snatching a positive result at the Camp Nou. A 90th minute goal from Ignacio Camacho stunned the home crowd.

With a 2-2 draw, Malaga will be more confident going into the second leg of this tie. Can they oust the Spanish Copa del Rey champions while the public anticipates an ‘El Clasico 2013’ semi-final encounter?

Malaga will host Barcelona in the second leg next Wednesday.
