Rumours that Victor Valdes is nearing the end of his Barcelona career have intensified following reports that the club is yet to offer a new contract to the goalkeeper.

Victor Valdes of Barcelona has appeared in transfer speculations this January.Meanwhile, Valdes has been quick to retort as he told the media according to Tribal Football:

“I want to make it clear that I have not declared anything about my future. When it is time I will.”

However, agent Gines Carvajal was keen to give out more details on this transfer-related matter. Explaining the situation to reporters, he stated:

“We have not sat down to speak to Barca about the future of Victor Valdes. We have talked a couple of times to Zubizarreta and we have let him know that we would like to talk to them about Victor's renovation, but there has been nothing more.

“Zubizarreta has indicated that he would be happy to talk about Victor's future and that he will call us and then both sides will put their view across. When Barca want to we are ready to begin.”

Victor Valdes has been accused of poor goalkeeping at times. He attracted jeers from the public in the Supercopa de Espana last year when he virtually gifted Real Madrid’s Angel di Maria a goal in the first leg at the Camp Nou. Los Blancos eventually went on to win the 4-4 tie thanks to the away goals rule.

Meanwhile, hype ahead of El Clasico 2013 has already started to build itself with promo videos and the Lionel Messi vs Cristiano Ronaldo rivalry. The last time Valdes came up against Real Madrid was in October 2012 when he conceded two goals in a 2-2 draw. Barcelona fans will expect the shot-stopper to correct his mistakes by doing a better job come March 3, 2013.
