The 2012/13 club football season is yet to kick off but Lionel Messi has started dreaming about collective success in Spain, Europe and the world.
Barcelona failed to clinch right results in the most important week of the 2011/12 season. Defeat to Chelsea in the Last 4 of the UEFA Champions League and a 2-1 loss to Real Madrid at the Camp Nou ended Barca’s hopes of conquering Europe and winning La Liga.
Barcelona still went on to lift the 2012 Copa del Rey title as Pep Guardiola stepped down from his coaching position. However, club top scorer Lionel Messi has confessed that this achievement was not enough in terms of the Blaugrana’s standards.
“I hope we can win everything again. That is our goal,” Lionel Messi revealed at a press conference.
The Argentine forward further stated:
“We know it will be very hard, but we have not yet got over the semi-final defeat against Chelsea in the Champions League and the penalty I missed, and also the defeat against Madrid at Camp Nou.”
The Pep Guardiola is over. It is under new head coach Tito Vilanova that the Catalans will try to steal the UEFA Champions League and La Liga titles away from holders Chelsea and Real Madrid respectively.
Meanwhile, Lionel Messi is set to join his Barcelona team mates later in July as the reigning Copa del Rey champions take on Hamburg in an international club friendly.
