Benfica were held to a goalless draw by Académica in Coimbra tonight and could be caught by FC Porto at the table summit tomorrow.
The Eagles have chosen precisely the wrong time of the season to hit a blip. After scoring in each of their first 35 matches of the 2011/12 season, two games without hitting the net have seen Benfica drop five points.

If FC Porto win at home against struggling Feirense tomorrow, the Dragons will be tied for first place with the Lisbon club... just days before the two great rivals meet in Lisbon.

Benfica dominated the match from start to finish, but were made to pay for some poor finishing, combined with an excellent goalkeeping display by Académica number one Peiser.

Pablo Aimar and second-half substitute Nelson Oliveira came close to finding the net, but it wasn't to be on a frustrating night for the Lisbon giants.
