The Englishman scored twice and assisted the other goal, with his second of the day wowing the crowd.

Chelsea bid farewell to a disastrous year with a nervy but crucial win over Luton Town in the Premier League.

The Blues traveled to Kenilworth Road for their final game of 2023 and marched to a 2-0 lead before the 40th-minute mark. The visitors got a third in the second half and while the Hatters scored two goals in the final 10 minutes of normal time to set up a nervy finish to the game, Pochettino's men held on for the win, with one man leaving the pitch with all the plaudits.

That player was Cole Palmer, the young Englishman signed from Manchester City over the summer. Not only did he score a brace, breaking the deadlock in the 13th minute before getting a second in the 70th minute, but he also assisted Noni Madueke as well.

This means the Man City academy graduate had a hand in all three goals, thus taking his tally across all competitions to 10 goals and six assists. His third goal, in particular, was special as he exhibited composure beyond his age to roll the keeper and slot the ball into an open net. Check it out in the clips below (videos are geo-restricted).

Speaking after the game, Palmer was joined by fellow goalscorer Madueke for the full-time interview where the pair discussed the game, how difficult it was at Kenilworth Road, and the thought process behind their goals.

During this conversation with TNT Sports, Noni jokingly revealed his teammate's nickname when asked about that third goal. The presenter labeled Palmer's second of the game an "ice-cold finish" to which the former PSV winger responded: "That's why they call him Cold Palmer, innit!"

Palmer revealed that his "ice-cold" celebration was inspired by his pal Morgan Rogers at Middlesbrough who pulled off a similar celebration. Chelsea fans will now hope to see more of this from their promising summer signing.

While that result has not changed Chelsea's position, Pochettino will be hoping to build on these positive results. The London giants enter 2024 having won back-to-back fixtures, beating Crystal Palace 2-1 and now Luton Town 3-2. Only time will tell what awaits them in the upcoming calendar year.
