The Austrian defender's injury will force Los Blancos to search for replacements in the winter transfer window, and the club is already working to fill that void.

Injury issues keep clouding what has been a massive Real Madrid season, and the latest setback of this sort may force Florentino Pérez and his execs to fill some gaps in the team's squad.

This past Sunday, the club's win against Villarreal was overshadowed by David Alaba's knee injury, which will force the player to miss the rest of the season. This injury, along with Eder Militao's long-term absence may see the club adding more players this winter, although some of those options are short-term solutions and others could come as part of a carefully designed plan.

After Militao's injury, the club started to scout some European talents, which include Sporting's Gonçalo Inacio, Benfica's Antonio Silva, and Atalanta's Giorgio Scalvini. All these players are young enough to stay at the Bernabeu for quite a while, although the club may have different ideas on how to proceed with their potential signings due to their cost.

Inacio's value has been set around $60M, mainly because Manchester United have also been linked to the footballer in recent weeks. Sporting is allegedly keen on establishing negotiations, and the player has told his inner circle he would allow a move to Real Madrid if given the chance.

On the other hand, Benfica's valuation of Silva may be a problem, as the Eagles have set a $100M buyout clause for their footballer. Meanwhile, Scalvini's rise to stardom has seen him being called up by the Italian national team, and reports close to Atalanta have stated they would be willing to negotiate for a bit over $50M.

According to Real Madrid's chief negotiator, Juni Calafat, the club will make a decision on what sort of deal they will pursue to add depth to their squad. Even so, the club seems to have some interesting options if they want to replace some of their injured players for good...even if that means spending more than they intended to.
