Apparently, some of the player's demands to extend his deal have been considered too much by Al-Khelaifi and Co., bringing all talks to a dead end.

Lionel Messi and PSG seemed to have an agreement to extend his deal with the French side, but time has gone by and now the footballer seems to be heading out of the club despite those discussions. Today, an article by Le Parisien has revealed the reasons for the falling out between the Ligue 1 leaders and the Argentine's entourage.

The article by the French media outlet states that Messi and the club did not carry on with their contract extension talks after Messi's father and agent, Jorge, requested the team to give Messi a raise following his performance with La Albiceleste in the 2022 World Cup.

PSG's response to this demand came swiftly, as Nasser Al-Khelaifi and his attorneys turned down that request, which brought all contract talks to a standstill. Now, with only two months left in his deal, it seems like Messi will have to search for pastures new, although the player's inner circle also had something to say on this matter.

The report by Le Parisien adds that Messi's entourage denied such a request by Messi's father, blaming PSG for the status of this negotiation. Furthermore, the player's inner circle added that PSG wish to re-build the team with Kylian Mbappé as the man to lead the project, and that Messi's exit would make it easier for them to hire new players.

Added to that, the team has not ignored their supporters' reactions to Messi's performances, which have included insults and jeers following key losses, especially when the club was eliminated from the UEFA Champions League.

Be that as it may, it seems that PSG and Messi will be parting ways this summer, unless there is a breakthrough in their negotiations and any of those involved give in to the other parties' demands.
