Barcelona v AC Milan will be the headline fixture as UEFA Champions League group play begins on Tuesday.
Reigning World Player of the Year Lionel Messi will be in action for Barcelona, while Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic will miss out on facing his former team due to a thigh injury.

Viktorie Plzen and BATE Borisov are the other two teams in Group H, and will be facing off in the Czech Republic.

In Group E action, Chelsea will play host to Bayer Leverkusen, the game will feature the return of Michael Ballack to Stamford Bridge. Genk and Valencia will also go head to head in Belgium.

Group F favorites Arsenal face a tricky trip to Borussia Dortmund for their opener, while Olympiakos and Marseille will do battle in Greece.

The 2010/2011 Europa League Champions FC Porto will begin Group G play against Shakhtar Donetsk, while APOEL will play host to FC Zenit St Petersburg.
 

FC Zenit St Petersburg will begin their Group G campaign by facing APOEL FC in Cyprus.





APOEL FC have reported a clean bill of health, and will be led by Brazilian pair Ailton and Kaka (not that one!). Ailton netted four goals in five games during the qualifying phase.





Sergei Semak is ruled out with injury for Zenit, while Vladimir Bystrov should shake off a knee problem in time to play.

Goalkeeper Roman Pavlik is out injured for Plzen, with Marek Cech the likely replacement. Dangerous forward Marek Bakos will feature after registering six goals and one assist during five qualifying games.





Vitali Rodionov and Evgeni Kuntsevich are sidelined with injury for Bate, while Dmitri Liktarovich and Aleksandr Pavlov are also ruled out.


The 2010/2011 Europa League Champions FC Porto will begin Champions League play against Shakhtar Donetsk on Tuesday.





Rolando and Fredy Guarin are suspended for Porto, while Alvaro Pereira is ruled out with a leg injury.





Olexandr Kucher, Vyacheslav Shevchuk and Darijo Srna are all expected to recover from injury in time to play for Shakhtar.


Arsenal will open their UEFA Champions League campaign with a tricky trip to face Borussia Dortmund in Germany.





Star striker Lucas Barrios is ruled out for Dortmund after tearing his thigh muscle in the Copa America Final.





Midfield pair Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey are both ruled out with injury for the Gunners. Mikel Arteta and Yossi Benayoun could play for Arsenal after making their club debut’s in the 1-0 weekend win over Swansea City.


Valencia will be favored to start their Champions League campaign with a victory as they travel to face Genk in Belgium.





Kevin De Bruyne, Tordben Joneleit and Stijn Wertelaers are al ruled out with injury for the Belgian’s. The Genk attack will be led by Jelle Vossen, who netted three goals in four games during the qualifying stages.





Bruno Saltar is out with injury for Valencia, while Miguel is expected to recover from illness in time to play. Roberto Soldado will lead the Spanish attack, and impressed during last season’s Champions League tournament.


Olympiakos and Marseille will face off in Greece in a Champions League Group F opener.





Ariel Igabaza and Rafik Djebbour are injury doubts for Olympiakos, while Olof Mellberg should be fit to play.





Andre Ayew, Andre Pierre-Gignac and Mathieu Valbuena are injury doubts for Marseille and will be assessed ahead of kickoff. Defender Stephane Mbia is ruled out for the French club after breaking his foot back in August.


Chelsea will begin their Champions League campaign by playing host to Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday night.





Didier Drogba and Michael Essien are sidelined with injury for Chelsea, while Romelu Lukaku and Ryan Bertrand are ineligible.





Young striker Daniel Sturridge could continue in the Chelsea attack after scoring in the 2-1 weekend win at Sunderland.





The Leverkusen midfield will include a familiar face to the Stamford Bridge faithful, as Michael Ballack is set to line up against his former club.
