Real Madrid have finally defeated Barcelona after 3 good years. A solid header from Cristiano Ronaldo in extra-time was all that Jose Mourinho’s side needed to become 2011 Copa del Rey champions.

6-2, 1-0, 2-0, 5-0... these results have all gone in favour of the Catalans in El Clasico recently. But when Jose Mourinho inspired Real Madrid to a 1-1 draw last Saturday, optimism conquered Los Blancos’ supporters. In a rather 50/50 game during the 2011 Copa del Rey final, Cristiano Ronaldo answered his critics... at last!

 

The Portuguese winger kept his composure throughout the game and finally broke the deadlock in the 102nd minute of the match. Barcelona failed to give a reply; not even Lionel Messi could come at the Blaugrana’s rescue.  At the referee’s final whistle, the party truly commenced for the men in white and their supporters at the Mestalla stadium like in every parts of the world.
