Barcelona vs Real Madrid - Tonight's Clasico in the Copa del Rey final 2011.Copa del Rey 2011 Round of 32 – Ceuta vs Barcelona

Barcelona began their 2011 Copa del Rey campaign in the Round of 32, facing Ceuta first at the Alfonso Murube stadium on 26 October 2010 in the first leg. Barcelona won 2-0 thanks to goals from Maxwell and Pedro, but they significantly enhanced their front in the returned leg as they thrashed their opponents 5-1. Nolito, Bartra, Pedro, Bojan and Messi were all on the scoring sheet for the Catalans, while Guzman was the man with the consolation for the visitors at the Camp Nou.

Having progressed into the Round of 16 subsequent to a 7-1 aggregate victory in the Round of 32, Barcelona were then placed against Athletic Bilbao. The 2009 champions nearly suffered a scare at home on 21 December 2010 when they allowed the Andalusians to hold them to a goalless draw; thus, all efforts needed to be put in the second leg encounter. The Azulgranas somehow were not capable of snatching a win either at the Sam Mames, but luckily for them, a 1-1 away draw was enough for them to go through the ensuing stage on away goals.

Copa del Rey 2011 Quarterfinals – Barcelona vs Real Betis

A 5-0 first-leg result—made possible by brilliant contributions from Lionel Messi—almost prematurely sealed Barcelona’s place in the 2011 Copa del Rey’s semis. Real Betis were consequently regarded as total underdogs having no chance of getting their way back in the quarterfinals, but they responded bravely on 19 January 2011. Though overturning such a huge deficit was apparently something above their level of power, they still showed great resilience—beating Barca 3-1 to earn a bit of respect.

Copa del Rey 2011 Semi-finals – Barcelona vs Almeria

Almeria were the side that took the most punishment from Pep Guardiola’s men in the Copa del Rey this season. Having lost to the Catalans 8-0 in La Liga back in November 2010, the Andalusians were hoping to make a few corrections in the Copa del Rey. That did not happen nevertheless, and they were slapped with another 8-0 score line—this time, on aggregate. Lionel Messi, David Villa, Pedro, Seydou Keita, Adriano, Thiago Alcántara, and Ibrahim Afellay were the ones who shared their team’s goals over the two legs.
