The Blaugrana side may be forced to give a player from Barcelona B a chance to play in the top-flight due to this complication.

Things at Camp Nou have been quite turbulent since Friday's disappointing 8-2 loss against Bayern, and today's reports will give the Blaugrana side more headlines for all the wrong reasons.

According to reports by Spanish newspapers Marca and As, goalkeeper Marc-André Ter Stegen has decided to undergo surgery this Tuesday. The German shot-stopper will have the surgery performed on his right knee to correct a complication with his tendons.

Ter Stegen had decided to undergo surgery as soon as the season ended, but the pause caused by the coronavirus pandemic delayed the medical procedure. Originally, Ter Stegen had planned to have the surgery performed on him in July, but with the procedure being delayed until Tuesday, the footballer could see the end of 2020 without playing anymore.

If things go as planned, Ter Stegen could return to the team's regular training sessions in mid-November, but any delays in his recovery could see him extending his recovery period until late December.

Ter Stegen is, along with Frenkie De Jong and Lionel Messi, one of the few players that can be sure about their job at Camp Nou following Friday's debacle. Unfortunately for him, he will have to wait to redeem his image after Friday's fiasco until the final months of the year. What may be even more worrying for the Blaugrana side is the fact that two goalies (Peña and Tenas) from Barcelona B could be handed first-team duties until Ter Stegen's return.
