Real Madrid's duo attempted to copy the antics of Messi and Luis Suárez in the past, but their shot did not have a happy ending.

Karim Benzema and Sergio Ramos tried to pull off a cheeky penalty kick gesture, but the joke was almost on them.

As the game against Villarreal approached its end, the referee decided to award Los Blancos a penalty kick, and Sergio Ramos was supposed to take it. Despite his impressive record as a penalty taker, Ramos decided to try something different: he tried to pass the ball to Karim Benzema, just like Lionel Messi did with Luis Suárez five years ago.

Unfortunately for them, Karim Benzema made his way into the box before Ramos hit the ball in the first place, which disallowed the eventual goal by the Frenchman. The referee then chose to repeat the penalty, as Villarreal's players also invaded the box before the shot.

Eventually, Karim Benzema would take the second penalty to accomplish the same result, but the initial gesture by both Real Madrid captains was not appreciated by fans and experts.
