Despite being overthrown from the 'favourites' position after they were humbled by Schalke at home last week, one player is not ready to give up hopes on progression for the Nerazzuri.
How often has Javier Zanetti been the inspiring figure behind the scenes at Inter Milan? Nevertheless, the Argentinean has once again rallied his fellow troops to not give up at all when they take on Schalke later tonight.

Inter were virtually dismantled before their own fans last week as Schalke came out victorious from the San Siro with a 5-2 score line. While fans are already expecting a defeat in their bid to defend their Champions League title, Javier Zanetti isn't quite ready to walk over the tie yet.

According to uefa.com, he said: "We know that a difficult task lies ahead, but we have 90 minutes to make our comeback reality. We need a fantastic result to do so. We have to believe.

From my rich experience I can say that a lot of things can happen in 90 minutes. "I respect Schalke, they are a great side. A team that has come so far has shown its worth.

We did not underestimate them − we had lots of respect for them. We will have to do better than in the first leg."

With Inter needing at least 4 goals to ensure progression to the next round, Zanetti has admitted that level of difficulty in this task. Nevertheless, the Inter captain is absolutely confident in his teammate’s abilities and asserted that anything is possible in football.

"We know how difficult it will be. We will have to put in a great performance to make it happen, but we can always field a strong side, and that's what I draw confidence from."
