The Argentine ace has been surrounded by rumors ever since his Instagram rant against Eric Abidal earlier this week.

Thursday's Copa del Rey elimination triggered a massive number of rumors surrounding Lionel Messi's future at Camp Nou, especially due to his messy Instagram story aimed at Eric Abidal.

After all the controversy sparked by his comments on social media, the player has clarified his intentions to his inner circle, making Barcelona fans stay calm...for now.

According to a report by Mundo Deportivo, members of Messi's entourage have told the Catalan-based newspaper that Messi is ready to honor his current deal with Los Culés, which expires by the end of the 2020-21 season. The Argentine superstar will not push for an exit in the upcoming transfer window, and he will not exercise the "escape clause" included in his deal.

Added to that, the Argentine ace is open to sign a contract extension with the club, but he is willing to wait for that until later this year, before he is able to negotiate with any other European club.

The sources consulted by Mundo Deportivo suggest that Messi is angry at Abidal not only due to his comments from earlier this week, but also because of his poor management and hiring skills. The player is reportedly uneasy due to the poor form shown by Frenkie de Jong, Jean-Clair Todibo and Malcom (all of them signed by Abidal), adding to his unrest the team's failure to sign a replacement for his friend, Luis Suárez.
