Without Suárez or Cavani, the North American side seems to have a legitimate chance of bouncing back after a heart-breaking loss against Mexico

September's International Break has been full of exciting games around the world, and the friendly match betweeen the United States and Uruguay promises to add to that notion.

The Stars and Stripes will try to pick up where they left before the 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup final, as Gregg Berhalter's men have not been able to score a single goal in their last two games, both against Mexico. Friday's 3-0 loss against El Tri hinted that things are not going well for Berhalter's crew, especially since they can't seem to find the right type of solutions to score against teams that are better ranked in FIFA's monthly ranking.

Uruguay had a better start of the international break, since they traveled to Costa Rica to defeat the hosts with a 2-1 score. Oscar Tabárez's men got away with this win thanks to a late goal by Jonathan Rodríguez, who filled the goalscoring shoes of Edinson Cavani and Luis Suárez properly, as both strikers were not called up due to injury.

The North American side's supporters will want to see a better performance by star man Christian Pulisic, who has not been in scintillating form since he joined Chelsea. His current woes with the Blues have also been visible with the USMNT, as he has failed to score in the last two games and his contribution has been disappointing, to say the least.

This will be the seventh match between the USMNT and Uruguay. Each team has won two games, with the remaining two ending in a draw, meaning that whoever wins this match will shift the balance to their side in their overall record.

It's been over 17 years since these team's last met. That clash saw the USMNT claiming a 2-1 win against La Celeste, in a friendly match held in Washington before the 2002 FIFA World Cup.
