The trio was left out of the classified list submitted to UEFA on Tuesday.

Juventus stars Mario Mandzukic and Emre Can have been left out of the squad for the first phase of the 2019/2020 UEFA Champions League. The pair has been deemed as surplus to requirement with the Bianconeri submitting its final list for the group stages to UEFA on Tuesday.

Both Mandzukic and Can were heavily linked with moves away from Turin this summer but none eventually found his way out of the club with the transfer window closing. For the former, a move to Manchester United was believed to be on the cards but nothing substantial came out of the negotiations which eventually collapsed. On the other hand, Can, who left Liverpool on a free in 2018 to become an important squad member for the Old Ladies has failed to integrate.

While his former side is currently tasting unprecedented success, the 25-year-old midfielder is still struggling at the Serie A club and has even fallen further down the pecking order with the arrival of both Adrien Rabiot and Aaron Ramsey this summer. The pair were featured in Maurizio Sarri's 21-man squad list but there was no room to accommodate the German international.

Relatively, skipper of the side Giorgio Chiellini was also omitted from the roster as a result of an ACL injury. The Italian midfielder successfully underwent a surgery on Tuesday and is expected to be sidelined for around six months.
