One Chelsea man did not shy away from criticizing his own manager.

Much has been said about Maurizio Sarri's first season in England. Many fans are upset with the Italian's tactics and a few players are reportedly unhappy with the manager. One of those men is Gary Cahill.

The English center-back has enjoyed success in his seven-year spell with the Blues, winning the Champions League and two Premier League titles. However, the gaffer is not a fan of the 33-year-old's technical abilities and has thus deemed him surplus to requirement.

He is now set to leave Stamford Bridge this summer once his contract has ended, but he has decided to voice his grievances with the former Napoli boss ahead of his exit.

The former Bolton man has criticized the former Napoli tactician for showing him and a number of Chelsea's other English top-flight winners a lack of respect. Speaking to the Telegraph, he said:

"It's been really terrible for me personally. It will just be erased out of my head when I leave Chelsea. My last memory will be last season's FA Cup final.

"It's been very difficult. I have played on a regular basis over the previous six seasons and I've won everything with Chelsea, so to be watching from the stands is something I didn't expect.

"I know how the whole club works, I've got a big relationship with all the players and staff, and yet none of that has been utilized.

"If you are not playing a player, any player, for two, three, four games, then you don't have to give a reason for that. But if it gets to eight or nine games, then you have to explain the situation. What's going on? But the manager hasn't done that.

"I see some of the situations with players who won the title with Chelsea, not just myself, and it just hasn't been right. It makes it very hard for me to have respect for someone who has not respected what some of us have won with the club."

In comparison, Cahill said no ill words about Gareth Southgate, the England national team boss. This is despite the fact that he did not start a game for the Three Lions during their recent FIFA World Cup campaign which saw them reach the semi-finals.

"I went to the World Cup and didn't play, but I came back with an even higher opinion of Gareth Southgate. It's all about how you treat somebody," he added.

Chelsea will be taking on Watford on Sunday in what should be a crucial clash in the top-four race. With Tottenham having lost to Bournemouth, the London giant can leapfrog Pochettino's men if they beat the Hornets. Failure to win could see them drop to fifth, should the Gunners overcome Brighton.
