The former footballer shared a point of view on a political matter that could get him in trouble with Ascenso MX authorities.

Just when things seemed to be going his way, Diego Armando Maradona decided it was time to spice things up with a controversial statement.

The Argentine ace, who is currently working in Mexico with Dorados de Sinaloa, is being investigated by Ascenso and Liga MX authorities for his supportive statements directed at Venezuelan president, Nicolás Maduro.

Maradona's words of support for Maduro came right after Sinaloa's weekend victory against Tampico.

"I want to dedicate this win to Nicolás Maduro and to all the people of Venezuela, who are suffering right now due to the actions of the world's 'sheriffs'. Those yanks believe that they can do whatever they want because they have the largest bomb in the world. The won't do it to us! We are not worried about that puppet of a president they have," Maradona said.

Liga MX's rulebook forbids any of their members to voice any political statements on the pitch or during the press conferences, which could mean a serious ban or fine for Maradona in the next couple of days.
